jon720
How bad do these actually sound?
eskimoswim
i have the souvlaki 2xLP and it doesn't sound bad at all. i guess it just lacks mids/airy sound of the recordings most are used to. if that makes sense. i was actually going to make a thread similar to this because i've been on the edge about buying the the recent Music On Vinyl versions but don't know if they sound any better than the "bootlegs". it doesn't help that they are imports and expensive. morfiend
The Souvlaki bootleg sounds good. One of my distributors actually talked me out of ordering the music on vinyl reissue saying the bootleg sounds better. I also have the Blue Day bootleg, which also sounds good. LowEndAutomatic
In my opinion, I also agree that they sound pretty decent... I was initially reluctant to pick up Blue Day and Souvlaki, but after talking to the guy who owns my local shop, I went for 'em. Great records for reasonable prices. manicdogbert
If you're on a budget, get the bootlegs. They don't sound too bad. They're just (most likely) mastered from the reissue CDs. I compared "Alison" using the original 12" single, the bootleg Souvlaki and the Music on Vinyl Souvlaki. The MoV sounded the closest to the original 12" single. The bootleg lacked the depth of the original but only slightly. I have an original press and the MoV of Just for a Day and they are comparable to each other. I have the original 12" e.p.'s of everything else so I don't need Blue Day.
