joberschlake
Could you guys help me with a pre-amp recommendation? I've got a technics SL-D2 with a Grado Cartridge running into a Harman Kardan 330B receiver. It gets loud, but not as loud as I feel it should. Would you recommend a pre-amp? If so, which one? Should it run thru a different input on the receiver than the phono? This is my first turntable, not my ultimate end set. I'm looking to be about 150 or less on a pre-amp. Eventually I will upgrade my system, but right now is not the time for that for me.

joberschlake
What speakers are you using? Is more volume your only goal? Infinity Entra Two Series Tower Speakers. They clarity and sound is good, just feel like it should have a little more volume.
slinch
Just buying a pre-amp won't necessarily solve your problem. The overall volume depends on the pressing, cartridge output voltage, pre-amp gain, amp/receiver gain, load handling, speaker efficiency and speaker impedance. Without specs on everything mentioned it's impossible to know what part of the system should be replaced to achieve the wanted result.
