Robert_Sofa
From time to time, I find unofficial repressings of some highly sought-after releases, but I'm always hesitant to pull the trigger on them. Have you purchased any "unofficial" repressings, and how did they turn out? Feel like you've wasted your money? Or did you score big? TFP
Unofficial represses? Do you mean Bootlegs or albums that aren't sanctioned by the band?
mpitts
I have bootlegs of Temple of the Dog and Blackstar. I think both are just fine. Neither are anything to write home about audibly, but they both also sound better than a number of records I have purchased that were legitimate releases. I can also say that the Tool- Aenima bootleg on orange vinyl sounds phenomenal. It's all hit and miss, depending on the source and mastering, but that's no different than any other release, bootleg or not. thesecrets0308

thesecrets0308
Seconded on mpitts comment about the Aenima boot on orange vinyl. Whoever did that one knew what they were doing. That particular boot has a great jacket and inserts to go along with the quality pressing. I recently purchased another Tool boot that's a Lollapalooza live set on purple marbled vinyl. That one just plain isn't the best recording in the world of a live show, but the vinyl itself was dead quiet. I've also heard the TOTD boot that mpitts has, good quality pressing but the jacket is pretty poor quality.
thesecrets0308
Also, I'd love to get my hands on that NIN Broken/Fixed boot. Was that both albums in one?
