Ever think to yourself about an option? A different way to be?

And with those words the world was introduced to Atom & His Package. In an era of cookie cutter hardcore and pop punk acts, this Philadelphian one man punk rock machine delivered one of the most unique albums the punk scene had seen in years. The spiritual successor of bands like The Dead Milkmen, and They Might Be Giants, Atom and His Package’s first track “Avenger” was the bizarre story of taking revenge on his enemies, running away to an island with the love of his life, and solving the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in the Middle East…. And it just got better from there. He quickly became the single most controversial act in all of punk, people going as far as taking out ads bashing him in fanzines or banning his labels’ ads from them because he wasn’t punk/hardcore enough for them. Those people were idiots. Atom injected something that was sorely lacking in our scene…. FUN.  He played the weirdest bills… I saw him with hardcore bands, old school punk bands, ska bands, emo/screamo bands, even a trip-hop band etc. I traveled 1,000 miles to see his “reunion” show at FEST 7, and it was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.

He reminded us that we were pretty much all nerds and got into this music because we were “uncool”. His music was great. It was sometimes silly, it was sometimes obnoxious, it was sometimes so beautifully simple and honest that it was perfect. We’re extremely happy to have the opportunity to reissue his first two records partnered with our friends at Toxic Toast Records – Atom and His Package (first time ever on vinyl!) and Society of People Named Elihu (first time on vinyl in the US!) for all of the people who love Atom as much as we do.  So here’s to love songs to new age artists, leaving your friends and family to hang out with black metal bands, and praising Rob Halford for destroying metal stereotypes.

Additionally, for every copy  Asbestos Records sells, we will be making a donation to www.translifeline.com . It’s our 2nd fundraiser for them, and they’re really an incredible charity doing great work.

Totally get you here but IMO, for some, the equation can be a little more complex than "make smart financial choice = higher quality of life" or, at least, have other elements that make me less interested in highlighting each poor decision.

If someone makes the personal decision that their #1 goal or focus is to achieve a certain level of financial security, above all else, then I definitely think their perspective of eliminating all decisions that lead them away from that goal is right for them. If that isn't someone's main goal, above all else, then I don't know if I can tell them "You should have done X financial decision instead of Y financial decision". I can see how being broke and overdrawn and having some more records is a better life than being less broke and less overdrawn with less records. Not accounting for extremes or outliers, I tend to peace out of moralizing someone's situation and offer my best human-to-human vibes.

But, as I said, 100% get you and I do agree with you in many circumstances. To look at it selfishly, in case anyone is thinking I'm pandering or trying to appear selfless or something, part of why I don't indulge the instinct to wade into someone else's financial choices is because I'd simply be wrong. Whatever assessment I made for them, by virtue of me not being them and knowing all the particulars of their life, would most likely be inaccurate. So, "you do you" is also a selfish way to not be wrong. :P

I have come here for some financial advice... see... I contribute 9% into my deferred comp. Because I will have a pension this is to hopefully send one of my two boys to college. I am currently invested into the low risk generic option because I just want the money I saved but I'm barely seeing a 5% profit. Can you suggest a mutual fund with a better return and also do you think the purple pressing of the Marshal Mathers LP is a good choice or should I just try to pick up a previous pressing? Thanks

  3. received today... opened... SPOILER! same as reported before (altho some on reddit claim to receive some but not all of the inserts) 2x 180 gm LPs (disc one was closer to 200gm), paper outer sleeve 2x cardboard sleeves one with print on the inside as well, band poster, art poster, zine, pogolith, can add, flower pack, and slip mat. Wish the  flower pack was sealed because it found its way to my vinyl... cleaned and seems fine but still.

    MATRIX:

    Side 1: PMT.009.1.A S-100948 SAFF

    Side 2: PMT.009.1.B S-100949 SAFF

    Side 3: PMT.009.1.C S-100950 SAFF

    Side 4: PMT.009.1.D S-100951 SAFF

The quality is great. Nothing out of the ordinary. Only played thru once. took my time appreciating the parts (minus the on-line "manual"). I love the idea that there is more to it... something to be found in the images and something more to the back cover writing but I don't think its needed. I am completely satisfied with the package and looking forward to  infusing psilocybin with listening to and enjoying the included visuals. I'm in the minority that would rather have this unique packaged release than another color variant.

    Hey guys!

Im quite desperate trying to find a Poncier copy in EU. Did you find any EU website that is offering them?

  5. just read 7 pages and I seriously can't tell if anyone that posted like or hates this band?! I know people think it was expensive without knowing what they are getting. They complained it's sold out but also complained that 5,000 isn't limited enough. A lot of people are really mad at paper bags?! I assume it's about the RSD Deja that came with different extras and different cover. I guess people don't like Daisy anymore.

I think they are great live and I enjoy their albums. If I have a chance to buy directly from the artists I do that. Most likely guilt from the gigs of Napster/limewire/IRC/Torrent downloads.

  6. I am happy to buy this album from them... BUT the past hour or so has been priceless. The people freaking out here, on the Facebook post, and Instagram post are absolutely awesome.

People complain about the price... well... just don’t buy it (Frank Ocean - blonde.)! Then it was grrr it sold out. The best was the fans that decided to damn the band and everything they have ever done.
