  1. I don't think auto cancels work that way, only ones that go the distance.

Yeah, I think there's a difference between "auto cancel after 20-30 minutes" (no codes back) vs. "auto cancel after 2 or 4 weeks" (codes back).

EDIT: In other words between "auto cancel because your info could not be verified" vs. "auto cancel because the item is still backordered so your order couldn't be fulfilled".

  2. This is quite possibly my favorite album of all time (hence my avatar) so I will definitely be picking this up, just debating between the bundle with the t-shirt or the vinyl alone.

My understanding is the studio version of "Whip Poor Will" is from the original album recording sessions and has never been released before now. From the one sheet

The full-band studio outtake of fan favorite "Whip Poor Will" is a sweet and spare version that ended up being played far differently on Magnolia Electric Co.'s final album Josephine (2009).

  3. That doesn't really make any sense to me.  Where exactly the IP address is being used isn't public information, the closest that can happen is they can ballpark an area.  The ISP would have to be queried to find out what address that IP is being used at and I can't imagine they'd just give it to BestBuy.

Doesn't make sense to me either, but a Best Buy representative said it:

    http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/BestBuy-com/Order-cancelled-quot-because-we-were-unable-to-verify-your/m-p/702393

Then again, they could just say something like that so that people will drop the conversation.

It doesn't make sense but apparently there is some validity to it, as I was able to place an order tonight at home after being unsuccessful at work the past two days (never had a problem placing orders at work prior to this Monday).

  4. So I just got my first "Cannot verify your information" email cancellation for purchasing something backordered.

I then created an account using my work email and tried to order something from there using a $10 code.

And that order got cancelled too.

I read some BB.com customer support  forums that said that orders will get cancelled if they're purchased from an IP address that isn't marked "residential" (which is just plain dumb if you ask me) and since I'm not at home, I think this might be the issue.

So my question is this, and I'm not sure if it was fully answered before:

Is my account now permanently flagged? Will I be unable to make any more orders?

Or have people who had orders instantly cancelled been able to order from their account again later?

I can't answer your questions as I am in the same boat. I got that e-mail for the first time on Monday, although it was for 2 in-stock items that I tried to buy with 3 codes (and $3 on a credit card). I have tried to place four other orders since then using the same account (all without codes) on back-ordered or special order items, varying both the time of day (morning vs. afternoon) and payment source/method (credit card vs. PayPal) and all have auto-canceled within 20 minutes.

All orders were placed from work though, so I will try one from home tonight to see if it makes a difference.

  6. I don't understand why they are mixing up their packaging techniques so much. One record will get shipped inside a nook box with air bubbles and 4 records are being shipped in hassle-free mailers. So random...

I suspect the people who work in their warehouse are poorly paid and don't give a shit.  "Yeah, I know there are record mailer boxes at the other end of the warehouse but I've got one of those big boxes right here so I'm putting these in that.  I gotta go on my lunch break soon.  Fuck those hipsters and their vinyl".

My guess is there are multiple warehouses (or at least multiple/different people in the same warehouse) who are doing the packaging and they don't all do it the same way.

  7. NPR is streaming White Lighter in its entirety and I just completed my first listen.  It is absolutely fantastic.  They have just continued to build on the EP and this will probably easitly grow into my favortite Typhoon material.  So glad I contributed to the Kickstarter and I hope they come through my city on their tour.  Give it a listen....

100% agreed on the new album. If you missed out on the Kickstarter, you can pre-order it via their former label Tender Loving Empire (which is also offering their whole discography, including White Lighter, via discounted CD or colored LP bundles) here:
