  1. Does anybody know if the Avalon and Glasshouse are sold out, or is that just presale?
  2. http://www.digi-vina.com/2.html Is this thing legit? My best friend saw it on twit.tv/dgw (Daily Gizwiz), which he trusts. It's apparently supposed to take recycled bottles and turn them into playable vinyl records using mp3s. There's no price listed anywhere, but DGW received an email from a listener saying how great this product was. It seems like a joke and too crazy/strange/under the radar to be true, so I'm asking my most informed (recordwise) peeps. Sorry if someone already posted this.
  3. I'd go with "Four Thieves Gone" simply for "Talk On Indolence" the opening track...fucking amazing UM YES!!!! And Emotionalism. Then again Carolina Jubilee is also great... I've been talking these guys up for years now. I love them. Kick Drum Heart is my jam, and is number 7 on "I and Love and You." I can't wait to have it in a real form opposed to just streaming it and downloading live performances. Is anybody else going to their album release show?
  4. I have a bunch of the lomo cams that I like to mess around with, but lately I've been fooling around with Japanese plastic cameras that superheadz put out. The other cool thing about working with these cameras is trying out a bunch of different kinds of film to really tweak with the existing effects that the cameras can cause. My local film dudes always give me an extra roll or two of film to experiment with, so I think that's pretty cool. The lomography website also now has an instant back for the Diana, and it works with Fuji mini instax film that you can buy in bulk from ebay for a decent price. Kinda stoked on all that. Anyway this is one that I have started to play around with and will be taking out this weekend. Superheadz Babylon: It has four different modes, not just the shoot 4 in a row that you'd expect.
  5. Not everybody has access to a myriad of taco trucks like we do! It's all about Taco Zone parked on Alvarado, woo!
  6. + All Tomorrow's Parties documentary at the LA Film Festival screening- The music was amazing and the editing was really great. I enjoyed how the footage was from all different angles from fans, band members, and filmmakers. The splicing together of the same song performed in different locations evoked the same emotions that I've had while chasing a band around at a festival attempting to see all of their sets. Our whole group had a good time watching this, and they also played it at an outdoor venue (Ford Amphitheatre) which added to its appeal. + Party Down- We've been watching this pretty consistently since we overdid ourselves on Summer Heights High. It's a "fake reality" type show based on the interworkings of a typically fucked up catering crew lead by a neurotic yet goal oriented leader. The gang is made up of a bunch of recognizable actors with assorted guest stars thrown in who then usually become inundated with job or friend requests by the servers. While the goal is to be comedic, it does have moments of serious emotion to punctuate the ridiculous situations in which everyone becomes entangled. + Sportscenter/ESPN- It's always on at the gym and sometimes I luck out because they're broadcasting soccer! I also prefer it to any other day/nighttime television that seems to be showing. + The Secret Life of the American Teenager/ Make it or Break it- I have no reason for this other than I have some retardation and feel the need to watch ABC family.
  7. Pshh! I wanna go! I have yet to make that drive, so I'm almost tempted.
  8. If I ever have a baby I hope it looks something like this. SO CUTE.(Sorry if that's creepy ???) Me too kinda! We exchanged what's ups through my girlfriend who knows him at this bar, but that was the extent of our meeting because said friend was sloppy drunk. My mom brought me home chocolate soymilk, which was the highlight of the day. Ironically I am drinking it in the dark.
  9. My ribs have parted ways they said "we're not going to protect this heart you have."
  10. Seattle, I will be up in you within the next couple weeks! It will probably be somewhere between June 30th- July 13th. This may or may not lead to a road trip to Canada or Portland. I was basically wondering if there was anything going on worth attending within those dates? As far as record stores go, I've only been to one of the Easy Streets (wah wahh), so if there are some other vinyl dispensaries to check out, that would be rad. Oh and I'd love some bar/restaurant recommendations in addition to any other cool shops! Thanks
  11. Friday-Museum, homework, taking dog to vet :'( Work on artwork, project then more homework. Saturday-Catching up/finishing homework/reading/research. Trying to pack for this week, and clean up my room a little. AVETT BROTHERS. Possible bestie hangz. Sunday-Rose Bowl for the flea market. Mom stuff, then more homework. DAG YO.
  12. + I am working on a project and it is turning out super nice! + Found a box of records in storage and they were perfect, and I missed them. + Excited about things to come this next week. + Get to see my best girlfriend (who lives in Chicago) this upcoming week! + Museum trip today, possible amoeba stop after, and vegan food. + Gilt order shipped today! +/- Thinking about going to Samy's to get a new lens. -- Cleaning my room. ------------------ ---------------- -------------- ----------- --------- ------ ---- - HOMEWORK/SCHOOL/ESSAYS/TESTS are almost killing my good mood, and a spider landed and crawled on my neck while I was washing my face this morning. I am extremely arachnophobic and totally freaked out making my mom check my body to make sure it was gone. Fuck, it was terrible.
  13. AKA Neighborhood: Olde City 27 N 2nd St Philadelphia, PA 19106 (215) 922-3855 (Edit: above copied from yelp) I made some good scores there and Repo was alright.
  14. I got that shit, plus 2 shirts: I had also ordered a record, so you'd think maybe they'd be more in the spirit of "hey this person orders stuff from us annddd they ordered this too." Plus they said that bs about giving extra goodies to YM, YL, and XL. I will probably never wear these, and nobody on this board is YL, except maybe A-money and Lia, who I doubt would wear either?
  15. Uh yeah, mine has been (from all I've heard, and all I've seen) for some time.
  16. FUUCCKKK I WANT TO GO TO THIS!!! (yeah, caps were necessary) How did I miss that this was going to be happening? Dammit two of my favorite bands in one night... shit.
  17. Alive: Not: Annnddd... this Avett always makes my pulse quicken: Kinda wish I was a banjo after seeing him.
  18. I heard something somewhere that they were supposed to be making a new album, and they played that Everybody Knows Everybody fest in Texas last year I believe, as well as SXSW this year. Not sure if that helps at all, but I love them, and hope that it's true!
  19. Inner City Pressure & Mutha'uckas- Flight of the Conchords
  20. I think I may be going, if you wanna have a fellow girl to hang with or something.
