Inb4 "will they discount my 2 month old preorder? No?!? This is bullshit!"

edit: also, thanks for the reminder. Saw the tweet earlier but was working. Grabbed the Animal Flag and Taking Meds LPs and the Jet Set Sail 7".

My Deer Leap package included the Jet Set Sail 7 inch as well as The Obsessives My Pale Red Dot randomly for free, just a heads up.

This album is incredible, I really held off on listening till i received the LP and then felt a little burnt that it took so long from when it was expected, so opening this up and seeing the incredible packaging and variant, I felt totally rewarded.  In a way it arrived at the perfect time, I cant say enough on how good this album is.

As I was scouring the net for reviews I stumbled upon this cool review and interview with their lead guitarist.  Gives some cool perspective to the band as  a whole and the making of this record.

Hope everyone digs as much as I am!

I'm going outta town tomorrow and will be like 20 minutes from the only shop in the state that got the 7". Looks like I'm calling first thing in the morning to try and reserve it.

Edit: Went ahead and reserved it. Told them they were one of two shops in the state that has the 7" and that I'm 2 hours away and will be in town tomorrow, and they were super cool with it.

    What record store?

    didn't it always?

i think i actually prefer the new ones too, but i think that was the point. the originals aren't really the best recordings.

I thought it always did, too.

unless im missing something, ra patera references volcano with the "open up the window and the let the morning light in" part as well as the synth line from that section a bit sped up.  now though, volcano includes the descending guitar lines at the end of it, the same that ra patera outros with.  so its like a retroactive reference?

A pox upon your house, sir.

Actually, I don't care.  As long as you didn't share with like, 100 of your friends, we're good.  But if that's the case, a pox upon all your houses!

nah, i just quietly enjoyed it myself.  def didnt wanna ruin the surprise of this record!

  5. ive been lucky to sit with this record for about a month (really sorry bearchuck), and its really cool to read more of the process behind the songs, the manipulation of the sonic spaces.  also about how they were able to do the shoot and how it was free and then to see it in the teaser/goodness pt 1 video was  a nice way to encapsulate the vibe of the artwork.

to me, this record takes the most captivating riffs and structures from Home, really expanding on the compositions and yet retaining that heart skip moment the combination of the chords and christians vocals give you. i get a very americana vibe on some of the tracks, a lot of the "verse" passages evoke that same feel good beat that hasnt really shown up before in this scene. highlights for me would be Two Deliverances, Opening Mail, and End of Reel.

id definitely say this album warrants repeat listens, it has so many little pockets of melodies and grooves and flourishes that you find yourself thinking of at the most random times.  im really happy that everything in the universe aligned so far as to allow this album to be created and released in such a way that it will reach a lot of people. :)
