Both bikes are more than suitable for casual riding. I'd go with the Specialized. Quality over savings. Mercier is sort of.. a legacy brand. Was good, now is not good. Full tune-ups should be done at the beginning of each riding season and generally cost $40-$90 depending on what type of bike you have(geared bike>single speed)

I hear what you're saying. Not necessarily a death blow though. Many serviceable releases never get proper vinyl mastering. Will (hopefully) keep costs down for the box set. I will bite on this if the price is $90 or less.
