  1. that sounds like a HUGE ripoff. I'm assuming you're not mechanically inclined/have tools? Because you should be able to fix all of those things for $500 or so yourself and most of them wouldn't be very difficult. Most of it you should be able to do with a decent set of metric sockets, some screwdrivers, and grease. Crankshaft seal would probably be a pain though. I'm kind of sceptical that it's actually leaking from all of those places at once - seems pretty unlikely. If it IS, I'd go ahead and replace the whole motor.
  2. me too - I'd really like both. bummed I missed it.
  3. Classic Records has also done quite a few 200g re-pressings of old well um... classic records.
  4. Hm. What if it was Side A is the board's vote and Side B is a VC staff pick? It also seems like since this is a board... there can be discussion prior to voting. Then if there's a smaller minority that would REALLY like to have something that the rest of the board isn't all that giddy about, the majority could still band together and vote for the minority's pick for the sake of proving that not everyone on the planet is a selfish asshole. Plus it could very well result in the majority realizing that the minority was onto something.
  5. No joke. I'm extensively excited about pretty much all of the ideas put foward, especially Virgil's side-label one.
  6. I read "You Shall Know Our Velocity" recently, and it was rather good, so I'll 2nd that one.
  7. I'm currently reading "Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies" by Jared Diamond, and it really is pretty fascinating. It's a book about why societies evolve how they did/do. If you're interested in history or anthropology at all it's a good read. Before that I read "If a Pirate I must be" - an biography of Bartholomew Roberts written by Richard Sanders, which was a fairly interesting look at the life of the most successful pirate... Before that I read "Sailing the Wine-Dark Sea: Why the Greeks Matter" by Thomas Cahill, which was an excellent look at the influence of the Greeks on our modern western civilization. After this I'll probably go back to some fiction for a bit...
  8. He needs to do this in LA. Or at least within a day's drive.
  9. I've got a cannondale rush 600 that I use for commuting to work a lot: It actually works really well - lock the shocks up (need to get a new lockable rear shock), put road tires + rack on and I can use it every day to get to work. Then for weekends just swap the tires out for knobbies and pull the rack off for mtb goodness.
  10. Would also. And Chan Marshall OMG. I third both of these. Although probably Leslie Feist a little more.
  11. thanks! I'm really glad I found this place - seems to be a collection of rather nice folks, and I've already found a few new bands through lurking. My sig picture is a close-up of the front underspoiler on my car - an 07 subaru sti:
  12. Google while searching for some albums I wanted on vinyl.... this site is evil and will take all of my money.
