  1. you've doubled it? i wouldn't have. anyway there's plenty of that record everywhere, so you can get another one relly cheap anytime. the fact that you've got this problem too, makes me think the pressing of RU was really fucked up, tho. I have a handful of records from FAT that have this problem, so it must be their pressing plant. I have one record (not a FAT release) that is so tight that it won't lay flat on the turntable, it plays all wobbly, which I probably shouldn't do anymore
  2. I could understand paying $17 ppd if this record had been: 180 gram, full color jacket, insert, etc. - especially for a limited color run. I almost like the LP layout, its simple, and I don't really associate Heavens with insane visuals. But this record should have been no more than $12ppd. This guy obviously isn't looking to release any more records, if so, he just pissed off a lot of potential buyers
  3. I love this series - not many bands release their own 7" clubs
  4. i've never had any problems with the FAT mailorder Sometimes they sell the black before the colored version depending on what they get in first...but I don't think that was the case with the Loved Ones LP.
  5. this label is tight. they did the kevin devine record. my mom tried to steal that shit from me i was like no wayyyyy! any idea on the pressing info? the announcement and pre-order are going up in a week or so, I'll be sure to post the information on here. For now... 3 different color pressings, ltd. 100/400/500 !
  6. Hey, yeah I was planning to throw in a copy of the Prevail Within/Smartbomb split 7" to compensate. Is that ok with you? Sorry about that

  9. I'll be at the NJ show - PM me if you want one
  10. So the CD master sounded good on vinyl? No distortion or noticeable issues? Yeah man, I've done that for 4 releases and haven't had any problems. Just make sure its mastered nicely/correctly and you shouldn't have a problem. Plus you'll get test pressings - so if there are any problems you will catch them before the final pressing starts
  11. Yeah, I use Pirates instead of directly with GZ because of the hassle (you have to go to the airport and pick up the records, etc.) I'm happy, and I'm pretty sure everything is fairly run in the Czech Republic, I've only heard positive things. For the /50 - I was referring to some releases with are 300 of one color, 100 of another, and 50 of random colors - I know Pirates doesn't do this, they have minimums on how many you can do. I'll check out Musicol - thanks
  12. I've never had music remastered from vinyl when taking it from a CD master...and I've never had any problems. Its up to what you want to do and your budget
  13. why is this going for so much? I'm sure its limited to 140,000 copies
  14. That's completely silly. The US has no good plants? They have plenty of good plants. However, most don't do all the wacky vinyl splatters and shit that kids eat up like candy on Halloween. It is actually MORE expensive to use Pirates Press, but it's easier to sell 100 copies of 5 different variations than to sell 500 on one color from a US plant. My experience is that you get more variation from the US-based plants with crazy vinyl colors and stuff. My stuff from Pirates is pretty standard, I've never gotten the random pressings that make some releases really rare Anybody know which pressings plant(s) gives you the "out of 50 on various colors"?
  15. What is a good US-based pressing plant that will give me the vinyl + printed materials fully packaged for a middle-range price?
  16. ok, I'll try and post the color pressings as soon as I get the information.
  17. "albums known as picture discs come with an image of the band or artist printed on the vinyl." haha.
  18. Oh yeah, Pirates Press is a good company for vinyl, but they don't do short runs. I think their minimum is 250, but it might be as high as 500. I think most people use United for small runs
  19. it depends on how you look at it. A lot of the big labels record for CD/digital and then just release the vinyl on the side as a means of generating a little bit more income. While this doesn't go for all major label releases, they are usually packaged very straightforward and not very creative -- I think to minimize costs Then there are the smaller labels like Hydrahead who focus most of their attention on vinyl releases - packaging, weight, color, etc. and they at least break even on every release, and probably make a decent amount of profit too. It really depends on the the label and the band, and how well known they are.
  20. Pre-orders are going to go up around the beginning of February if everything goes well with the test pressings, etc. We got word from the pressing plant saying that we couldn't do splatter on 70 gram vinyl, so we had to change up the color pressings - we will post those as soon as we get a confirmation from the pressing plant Slab-O-Wax Records: www.slab-o-wax.com Mightier Than Sword: www.mtsrecords.com
  21. yeah, can't wait for the NYC show. Then flying to Texas to see NOFX play in Austin - going to be a couple of good days..
