  1. That's pretty awesome! I just booked my hotel and its just starting to get real! So stoked.
  2. Awesome! I have quite a drive to get there so I'm just going to go a day early and see if I can get a ticket to night 1 somehow (unless someone on here has an extra wink wink). Plus since people can "cancel their orders" some might open up online at some point. This new policy is kinda too little too late though. Glad to know I'm not the only one who is willing to journey to SoCal for this and stay in a hotel/crash. Billy, you're flying?! Daisy took me by far the longest to really get in to. I imagine that it will be pretty intense and even better played live.
  3. My amazon.de order arrived today: black, cover sticker, center labels normal. It sure is a nice shiny record though. Can't wait to spin it. Oh, and Archers is my favorite too, then Not The Sun. Edit: Additionally, the packaging was pristine- no seam splits or anything of the sort.
  4. I used to take video at shows when I first started going to them. I can tell you I've never watched a single one, and since high school have stopped because it completely defeats the point of going to a live show. I really enjoy when everyone sings along, but people are often dicks and shout random stuff at inappropriate times. Wow, such badass. Its cool when everyone is into though. I am still incredibly excited to see Brand New for the first time. I just hope I'm not being scammed like some people have been. Blowjobs for tix, fake tickets, scalpers, will call only, posting people phone numbers....SCANDAL. Anyways, how many of you have been to a BN show before that are also going to these? I'm interested to see how it will compare.
  5. My local HT had two copies. I love both the album art and the pink/hot pink/clear coloring even though they don't go together at all. I kind of get the KS disappointment because you think you'll get something extra for helping make it happen, but having him hook up with PureNoise is kind of a sell out/cop out when this supposed to be fan funded from the start. I do like PureNoise as a label in itself and maybe it means he'll produce more music with them in future?
  6. I've stopped watching horror movies because they've become so incredibly awful, so I might have to check this out. Also, people who always try to guess what's going to happen next are not fun to watch movies with. I'm a big fan of buying into the fiction contract and letting the story unfold in front of me.
  7. I saw Catching Fire as well. I thought it was done much better than the first movie; the change of directors really helped push it to the next level. However, I still am adamant that Peter Jackson should have directed these movies because he did such a great job adapting LOTR and now The Hobbit- imagine what he could do with The Hunger Games. Nonetheless, the actors chosen for the other tributes were spot on perfect and the violence and other effects were just right. Yeah the crowd was funny, its so awkward when a movie theater claps together
  8. Made the trip to the closest HT with vinyl records and picked up their last two (or only two?) copies, one for me and one for a friend. There's a major difference in color but I'm digging them both. The sticker size is the only other difference: UPC and serial numbers match. The first does have a vendor number on it though. The big price sticker had the translucent dark teal? Looks more green - but not as green as the previous press. (There's no scratches or anything like that. Very clear and clean). The one with the small sticker contained what I'm assuming is "teal", though its more blue than anything.
  9. + I had some good wine + Its also super windy and cold - a record I was contemplating sold out when I made my decision to buy it
  10. For some reason this image is extremely hilarious to me. And for some other reason I think it would also be incredibly interesting to actually listen to his stuff..from a mental health standpoint... maybe. Some morbid curiousity to the inner workings. Overall its WTF. He's been in the news (rolling stone I think?) about how he's also marrying some 25 y/o he named Star.
  11. Yeah I don't mind most singing along either, but I saw Hellogoodbye/Metric/Paramore last month and it was the same way with the phones. In fact, most people on the floor level with us were actually watching through their phones, not just recording. We weren't allowed to mosh (due to the venue regulations) but I got the feeling that most people around us would have been pissed if we did. They were definitely not used to being so up close and personal already. I get extremely annoyed at the Brand New "fans" on tumblr enough as it is....I'll need a huge dose of patience during the show I can already tell.
  12. Also, All We Know Is Falling appears to be sold out online too. (while it was in my shopping cart nonetheless, whoops)
  13. Well some people are actually paying for the tickets marked up 10x original value so that doesn't help. These scalpers will raise the prices until they stop getting offers.. I think also its some reverse psychology involved with this band and the crazy that surrounds them. They're not as easily accesible as...well, any other current band out there. They don't go on major tours, there two, well now, one, most popular album is not easy to come by unless you want to pay...etc etc. Since they're so limited I think people want them more. I may be guilty of it too, I mean, $200 wtf. I only recently noticed all this hype surrounding them. Can't explain that. A few years ago when they played in CA none of this happened.
  14. I believe that The Observatory had all tickets delivered "Will Call Only" so people who bought tickets just to flip them on StubHub wouldn't be able to. (BN is rumored to be involved in that decision??) I couldn't believe the StubHub prices ($140!) for the presale tickets Wed & I thought I would wait to get tickets from the regular sale. Nope. Ended up snatching one ticket for night 2 in Santa Ana for $200 on craigslist. I'd pay the same for a night 1 but craigslist posts alluded to prices above $350........
  15. Hello VC, I’ve been a lurker for a while so I figured I’d finally register and start participatin’. Real name: Emily Favorite Bands: This changes often but some of my go-to favorites are: Rilo Kiley, Brand New, Blink-182, The American Scene, Styx, Queen, The Cure, Marina & the Diamonds, Missy Higgins, City & Colour, Iron &Wine, The Spill Canvas, Chris LeDoux, Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, Mumford & Sons, Taking Back Sunday, Unwritten Law, Fleetwood Mac, Flyleaf, Josh Garrels, Motion City Soundtrack, Neutral Milk Hotel, Relient K, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Linkin Park, Tegan & Sara, Kansas, Vanessa Carlton, Wakey! Wakey!, Mountain Goats. And I’m just starting to get into Bastille, The 1975, Lorde, The Neighbourhood and more electronic (?) type stuff. I am not sure about it yet though. What's your Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr etc.?: I don’t have Facebook or Twitter and my Tumblr’s not worth mentioning ;o Hobbies (outside of record collecting): Right now, my ‘hobby’ is mostly job hunting. Other than that, my hobbies include going to shows, working out, reading books, playing video games and spending an incredible amount of time online. Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us!: Naw I have zero musical talent and can barely almost hold a tune. Random things you want us to know about you: I graduated from college in May and I work in healthcare. I just recently (within the last few years) started casually collecting vinyl records but have been fascinated with them since I was a kid. Now that I’m on my own with some semi-disposable income I’ve become more interested in collecting records and am steadily adding to my collection (which I will list somewhere at a later time). xx
