  1. im going to say either 4 or 5...i might be looking into it a little too hard for my own good haha, there were 4, but if you look at what you just wrote, that makes it 5, so i'll give it to you either way, even though technically i shouldn't cause you made 2 guesses. but you made me laugh. so congrats.
  2. haha "pretty respectful"... that's a good thing to say, though. if i were going, i'd be supremely respectful, but i'm not going.
  3. ^^ every time i see your sig, at first i think that he has a boner
  4. hahaha, i had no idea. i never went back and looked at the start of that thread. maybe i should though...
  5. this site updates constantly with the last 50 pictures that have been added to live journal. it's unbelievable the speed with which people are adding pictures to that thing. also, it's pretty interesting to see the assortment of pictures being added. i do warn you however, it is potentially NSFW. potentially VERY NSFW. interesting, nonetheless... http://www.fuzzysquid.com/LJ.php
  6. you can make fun of it all you want, i think it takes some pretty big balls to package your own semen and sell it to consumers across the world. (first person to correctly count all the double entendres in that statement gets +1d)
  7. last year i went to go see against me! and world/inferno friendship society play in chicago on thanksgiving (against me! played the whole show acoustic, which was awesome). i got there a little bit later than i normally try to get to shows, so i missed almost all of the opening band, the cobra skulls. however, from what i heard, i really liked it. i was also going to the show in st. louis that was 3 days later, though, so i wasn't that bummed cause i was gonna get to see them there, or so i thought. their van broke down and they didn't make the gig. then when the show was over i found out that my then-gf had hooked up with her ex-bf earlier that week, so i broke up with her on the spot and just walked out of her place and never talked to her again (to this day). and that is the story of my 21st birthday.
  8. rule number 1 of job hunting: don't tell anybody the specifics of a job you're looking into until you hear a "yes" or "no" from the company. sorry bud, that sucks. sounds like it's probably best for the 'friendship' if neither of you get the job, but it REALLY seems like it's not as good of a friendship as you think. what real friend would apply for a job that his buddy is going for?
  9. i appreciate your input (almost everybody so far, actually...) but i'm afraid i'm going to need a little more of a backstory behind this before i could ask an informed question to his face??? the thought is that all 4 of them would be in the room with me.
  10. i'm in awe of your collection... do you also collect Dill Records stuff? i have a 7" of The Rabies if you're interested.
  11. i'd offer you a place to stay, but i'm pretty sure you won't be anywhere near carbondale, illinois. if you are, though, you're more than welcome to crash with me. i'll take you out drinking and we can listen to vinyl at my radio station. have an awesome trip.
  12. ^^^^ this. if you do end up going to all that trouble, i would love to read your end result. whatever you do, don't change your topic to global warming or anything boring like that. (no, i'm not saying it's not important, i'm just saying it's not nearly as important to you personally, so you wouldn't enjoy writing it, and therefore the paper wouldn't be nearly as good). good luck regardless.
  13. yeah, but eddie vedder is a chicagoan, which counts in my book. nonetheless, the point is the show would have been sick.
  14. there's a good chance i'll be interviewing the gaslight anthem the week before thanksgiving when their tour with alkaline trio, thrice and rise against comes through st. louis/chicago. i'm fairly familiar with their stuff, but i know there are a TON of you guys on this forum that know way more about them than i do. what type of questions would you guys like to know the answers to? if you could interview them, what would you ask? if you guys give me some cool shit to ask, or at least some intelligent questions that would make me sound like i know what i'm talking about, i'll post a link to the interview here after it happens. thanks in advance for your guys' help. i'll +1 everybody who gives me something good. -dan
  15. from what i understand, though, it's their 20th anniversary tour and the setlist will be comprised of all their old standards. it's not like they're playing any of the new music (or a lot of it, at least) so i think it'll still be amazing. and TWAT... my buddy who is like 15 years older than me said that the best show he's ever been to in his life was a $12 concert where the red hot chili peppers were the headlining band, and the openers were two little-known chicago bands called smashing pumpkins and pearl jam. to top that all off, you know how they play music over the loudspeakers in between the bands' sets? that night was the first time he ever heard nirvana. they played smells like teen spirit over the pa. pretty sweet night for $12 if you ask me...
  16. PM'd although i'm not sure if you were talking to me...?
  17. if ignorance is bliss, these must be the happiest people alive...
  18. so this morning at 10:00, tickets went on sale for the 4 shows they're playing in chicago around thanksgiving time. they were my favorite band for about 3 years back in the day, but i was always too young to go to a show by myself and there was no way in hell i would ever ask my parents to take me to one (nor would they have taken me to one, in my opinion, if i had asked). it was always a dream of mine to see them live, and when they broke up, i was legitimately crushed because i thought i never would be able to. given, when they broke up they were no longer my favorite band, but it was just that feeling that i was never going to be able to check them off my list, you know? i didn't like zwan that much. i didn't like billy's solo stuff that much. obviously, with both cases, there were a couple songs that were listenable, but overall it wasn't doing it for me. i wasn't too high on that zeitgeist album, either, but at least it gave me hope that i'd see them in person one day. so this morning i bought 2 tickets for the saturday the 22 show. tickets were $48 or $65, i chose the $48 because i knew there was going to be $10 per ticket of "convenience" charges. there was also an option on ticketmaster that if you pay like 15 more bucks, a few days after your show you'll be able to download an mp3 version of the show you attended, so i also bought that. all in all, i dropped $135 on two tickets and a digital live album, but i couldn't be more excited. anybody else going?
