a little pop up in the UK yesterday with teases to maybe a London store opening soon. To far from me, but very interesting and I guess good for them if business is doing well enough to open a third location.
Yeah, they (Absurd Scam records) were being very coy about things at the independent label market in London on Sunday, but they were selling some tri-colour 7"s apparently and other Third Man stuff. The store is just off Carnaby Street but it's boarded up and not open yet.

All gone in under 3 minutes. A few stores had put up their pre-orders early, so people were ready for it.
-
Got word on this a month back but it was light on details. All I heard was MBV had cut some kind of deal with Domino and press interviews with Shields were being set up.

or maybe they can just press more of the limited edition so that its available longer?
Then what would be limited about it?
It's like people these days expect someone to come up, tap them on the shoulder and say 'pre-order's up'. Otherwise they're gonna head straight to facebook to piss and moan about not seeing the email, tweet, facebook post or whatever, and how they're really sad and it's ruined their day. Which is what forced Martin's hand with this lottery nonsense.
Most of us here would accept it as being part of record collecting. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and sometimes you find a variant that's better than the one you originally got your knickers in a twist over.
But that doesn't mean I want my name written on the sleeve of every future Duophonic release. God forbid we need money in the future and want to sell off some of the collection and now have that shit to deal with. It's all kinda soured me on the label to be honest.

I see they are keeping the "name written on sleeve" idea that they introduced with the Ghost Power 7", bet flippers will not be happy
They brought it in with the scratch-off winner 7", which I thought was fair enough (I won one, so no complaints), but making this the deal for all future Duophonic stuff isn't really endearing to me either.

Well that lasted a whole 12 minutes...

... can someone explain to me why this sold out so quickly? I know it was out of print, but it seems like there were a few on Discogs / elsewhere that were affordable.

Good news for slow movers....
Fond memories of those first two albums and their first London show back in '04.

That's ridiculous. I shipped a record from Brooklyn to Brooklyn that took three weeks to arrive and the guy was super cool about it. Everyone has also been good with shipping only once a week. I'm still waiting for a record from Australia that was shipped in March. It's not the seller's fault so why would I blame him for the delay? Whoever left you that feedback is a cunt.
I ordered a record from Australia back on June 19 and updates had it sat at the airport for the last month. I got notification today that it's in the country. International mail is taking a while from certain countries, but March??

Got my signed Dry Demos LP from her store today. Can someone explain why England makes the worlds thinnest cardboard mailers? The package was really banged up but somehow the sleeve is great other than a tiny corner ding. Really nice large signature in gold marker. I used the TrakPak shipping option and it took around 10 days from the day it shipped to when I got it in Michigan.
I hate those mailers. They really are dogshit. It's 50/50 whether the record arrives with a corner ding or worse and it seems the major UK distributors (recordstore.co.uk, kontraband, sandbag etc) use them exclusively. That said, lovely gold auto!

im in the US but ordered from amazon.fr. luckily i have a friend who lives there so i was able to have it shipped over there. i think it’s just under $50 to have it shipped to the US which might still be a little cheaper than discogs. it’s still available.
Thanks for the tip! Was casually after a copy if I saw one cheap and this is great! £24 posted to the UK.

FYI -- they're getting screwy with spacing the release dates, but it's been on a Thursday at 3pm (UK time) every time so far.

I wasn't expecting the pre-order to drop for another week! They're really churning them out!

Yes, it does seem slightly odd that an Aus site would have a Euro version which has sold out, apparently before it has apparently appeared anywhere in Europe, but FOMO, I guess.
If Red Eye has it (and god bless'em, my old stomping ground), it's not going to be hard to find.

Anyone know of any UK/EU places to get the Black Friday 'wolf songs'? International postage makes it almost (almost) impossible to justify buying.
It's an 'rsd first' release, so I reckon it will be easy enough to pick up down the line.

Echo the Paul Westerberg love. Been hoping that would one day appear. It's gotta be my favourite solo release of his.

Saw them twice on the UK leg of the tour, blew me away, especially the comparatively smaller show in Brighton
Brighton was really good considering they only arrived at the venue with their gear half an hour before they were supposed to go on!

Did Spoon even ever have a hit? Or this is a subjective 'could've been' selection? It's such an ordinary tracklisting that seems to focus on cohesiveness and latter period blandness, rather than variety and versatility. Really did love this band when it seemed their entire career was one long uphill battle and then when they get the acclaim the fire goes out and everything turns to schmaltz. And damn straight no 'Metal Detektor'. A Series of Sneaks is still the best thing they ever did.

Some of the vinyl on that list are exclusive to HMV only in the UK, so may be available in other territories.

Scratched two and got nuffin. Kinda would like to know what the chances of winning are!

Drive OST completists and/or people who always wanted that limited OG 7" can partially sate their needs with this...

The mag & 7" combo do tend to sell out so I'd move on it if you want one.
