I was looking forward to buying one of these today until I saw the $30 price point...

Hot Topic will have colored vinyl and I believe it will be the only colored vinyl for this release.

That is exactly what he should say to be honest with you. I would never sell a record and not mention a single thing to the people that bought it if it was being held up as long as it has.
 
I wasn't doging on broken circles at all. I think they are a great label but communication is the best customer service.
 
Just a quick tweet or email is fine. As I'm typing this, I realize he sent out an email just a few days ago about the hold up. Those emails are what I'm talking about. Just a little info letting us know what's going on. I'm glad he finally sent one but I wouldn't have minded if it had been 2 months ago. I would have never held off listening to this for so long.

So it's offensive/rude for me to want some communication with a label? I also have a brain and this board has tons of topics on pre orders and half of them get held up. I guarantee you that most people in those threads would be saying the same thing as me if they were waiting for a record and the label wasn't saying anything. You most definitely aren't on the same page as the general population when it comes to knowing/wanting good customer service. 
 
Just for an example here. If you pre ordered a PS4 or XBOX ONE when they were announced and you were expecting for yours to arrive on the date you were told and then you didn't get it for another 2 or 3 months, you would be wanting some kind of explanation. Why is it different with records? Even though this happens more often in the vinyl community, you are still allowed some communication from the label and why/what happened. There have been multiple labels on here screw a lot of members over when it comes to ordering a record and those members never see the record and sometimes don't get their money back. You may feel like you don't want an explanation and that is your prerogative but others on here might. You're wrong in thinking that how you would want things is how it should be for everyone.

I wouldn't feel too bad for the SDCC attendees who have hoards of opportunities to flip a variety of SDCC Exclusives.  They can still double dip on the online drop if their little hearts desire.

That is part of the reason they keep increasing the price of records at their store. You should have been honest and told them you already got your record.

Fair enough. I was just pointing out it wasnt much more once factoring in the free shipping to store.

Taking time out of my evening or making time during the day at work to go pick up a record at my nearest Hot Topic, which isn't a stones throw away, is a bit annoying, yes. I didn't want to pay shipping because spending $23+ on a 7 song EP is a bit high, is it not? I don't mind paying the $16 to Bad Timing. I buy all variants (when possible), so they ship together, making the records I buy even cheaper. Also, Bad Timing is a small label with great people. I like supporting great people. I can put a face/name to Bad Timing because of small Twitter convos or discussing things on here. I can't do that with Hot Topic. It's about principles, dude.

I love when HT gets blamed for stuff like this. Like they have anything to do with the records other than ordering them at price X and charging price 2X.

From the pics I saw online of this I thought it was clear vinyl with rainbow splatter. It's actually a clear blue, like a coke bottle blue with rainbow splatter. Looks really cool in person

Yeah, I can't say I personally understand the negativity towards Zack, either.  He seems to be extremely passionate about music and does a heck of a job keeping involved in everything that goes on within the music scene.  His site is arguably the best resource for music news within the styles that they cover, and I guess he also manages bands and now releases records that some of us have wanted on vinyl for a while now.  I would assume it's just negative views people have towards his site or something, but really, BTR is a great label and Zack overall seems to be a pretty good guy.
