not really a Shoegaze expert, but definitely check out Beach Fossils, especially the "What A Pleasure" EP as well as the "Clash The Truth" LP. Wild Nothing's "Nocturne", as itsgoodtobefree pointed out, is a totally awesome album! Uplifting and joyful and at the same time melancholic as hell. Also suitable if you dig The Smiths for example (my opinion).

The Ships EP is indeed really good! Don't know their LP very well though. -
this by the way isn't really true. I talked to Keith about this on their Euro tour this spring. He told me that technically they CAN repress the album. It's more a question of money at this point, he said that they'd more likely put money into other new releases rather than repressing the first LP. A pity for all those who missed out since of course it's one of the best emo records ever and a stellar release (I was very lucky to get a copy for retail price in Germany when I started collecting vinyl 2,5 or so years ago).
