  1. It also happens in cases where somebody turns in a record that's been sitting on their shelf sealed and unplayed... which I think was the situation in this case because the corners had been bent by the wrap being on it for so long.
  2. Hey all, I've long held off buying Emenim's Marshall Mathers LP because the US pressing is supposed to be shoddy and expensive. I was at a local shop yesterday and noticed they had a sealed but used version of the European pressing from 13'. I'm wondering if anybody here can comment as to whether the EU version is of a better quality because there is no feedback on the discogs page...
  3. My understanding is that XL bought out the current Capitol masceurading as Parlaphone pressings and is gonna do a re-master from the Parlaphone tapes AFTER those sell out. But I'm eager to hear reports on sound quality and Matrix numbers on these.
  4. Shortly after the additions to the member store goes up for sale. So within the next couple of days. That way they have you hooked if you really want (and thus bought) an exclusive. The store went active yesterday so the June AotM should be announced within the next week or so. I started a skeptic but it's a solidly run service. Their customer service and community is top notch. As I've said before, let me know if anyone needs a code.
  5. I own 4. 2 of them sound fabulous (Menomena, Weezer); one is solid and a huge improvement on the standard pressing (Fugees). The only one I wouldn't recommend (Perfume Genius) sounds amazing when quiet but has spouts of noisiness. Then again, it was pressed on white vinyl and I picked it up used at Amoeba...
  6. So very much appreciated. I'm especially curious how Kid A sounds as I own the others in some form or another.
  7. Anderson .Paak: Malibu Crystal Castles: II Lana Del Rey (used): Ultraviolence Yeasayer: Fragrant World (variant) Weezer: Pinkerton (VMP variant) Perfume Genius (used): (VMP variant) Elvis Depressedly: New Alhambra (purple) Nothing: Tired if Tomorrow (electric blue) Autolux: Pussy's Dead Radiohead: A Moon Shaped Pool (pre-ordered white) Sublime: Acoustic (pre-ordered)
  8. They own their back catalogue now? Pretty sure XL does? http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/04/radioheads-back-catalog-purchased-by-xl-recordings-report/ That said, In a statement to Consequence of Sound, a spokesperson for XL Recordings said, “This is the first step in the transfer of Radiohead’s back catalogue from Parlophone to XL. The main albums are being made available in their original form as a start, before non-LP material is reconfigured.”
  9. Not to be redundant but I'd kill for a boxset of Radiohead b-sides. There are literally hundreds of them to choose from. They could do an initial run large enough for fans to obtain easily for 6 months or so but only do one pressing. That way, it's still fairly collectible but you avoid the whole Halo 2 kind of situation.
  10. So I got further clarification from the people who run Vinyl Me Please in regards to these re-issues. My understanding is that they have bought up the remaining stock of current Parlaphone pressings and will also be doing their on re-master using the original Parlaphone tapes. Unfortunately, the "Parlaphone" stock they bought is likely the batch that is really Capitol pressings in disguise. I'd check the matrix #'s when your Amazon package arrives. The good news is that for those willing to remain patient, high quality, analog versions should be available sooner then later. Which is why I'm gonna hold off on ordering Kid A from VMP even though I'll likely never get it at a better price. Don't want to risk getting leftovers. But please report back as it pertains to sound quality.
  11. I wound up grabbing the 2nd to last electric blue simply because I have a red turntable and so any variant of the same color feels redundant.
  12. That cover is gorgeous. So I presume you'd do the electric blue over the VMP red as well?
  13. Are there any images of the olive green around? Trying to decide between it and the electric blue...
  14. As bummed as you are, but I doubt the exclusive gets scrapped. I'm more concerned that it's gonna be very difficult to get because the album will have been out for a month or so and everyone will have realized how brilliant it is (cause it is).
  15. CSH likely delayed due to The Cars getting pissy about sampling usage.... http://pitchfork.com/news/65444-car-seat-headrest-lps-destroyed-because-ric-ocasek-wouldnt-authorize-a-cars-sample/
  16. And $32 for the vinyl... That said, I like it quite a bit. Points rubs me the wrong way because it hits all the notes that remind me I have substantial hearing loss, and I do think I prefer the more succinct Overgrown but it's still in my top 10 from the year thus far. It'd be getting far more noise if it hadn't been released the same week as A Moon Shaped Pool.
  17. Just a heads up... the guy who runs the Vinyl Me Please forum has responded to inquires and indicated that the re-issues coming out this month will be sourced from the Parlaphone masters. "the first batch of reissues will be Parlophone reworks, not Capitol, XL will do their own reissues to follow, but will be using the Parlophone parts from what I gather."
  18. Because every band starts with a demo (and sometimes they change their name [from On a Friday]).
  19. I'd presume so. People on the forum were requesting the reissues. The real question is if the reissues are any better than the mediocre Capitol releases (or if the rumors that they are the exact same copies repackaged are true). Also... I've said it before, but I'll gladly hand over a referral code to somebody who wants one.
  20. That's definitely what happened. I'll blame all the weed I've smoked with my mother today. Don't mind the extra $7 either way. I'd put the odds on the standard retailing for around $30 anyways.
  21. Ordered the white. It only came to a little over 25 bucks to the US because taxes don't seem to apply (so it subtracts 4+ from your total). Pretty sure that's less than the standard will sell for in shops.
  22. Deluxe pricing is insane. Radiohead is my favorite band of all-time but I can't believe some of your are spending $80 bucks on this and encouraging this type of pricing on future releases.
