  1. Friends of Sound Records is located on south congress and tucked away in a cool back alley. Super local store since many people in Austin don't even know it's there. Waterloo is always great but if you want a unique place that not everyone checks out, Friends of Sound Records is the place to go. They also have a special bin you can ask for that will have rare bootleg vinyl. I've gotten lucky there a few times with rare items you would have a hard time finding anywhere else!

I talked to Paul and Darren about this earlier this year and they laughed at that rumor. They said the only thing they lost in Katrina was the original art. They actually asked me that night if I'd buy a repress with different cover art lol.

Side note: They also said that Roy had the most copies of the first press out of any of the band members and joked that all the copies on eBay/Discogs are his haha.

How did you get to know them personally?

  3. I don't understand this price at all. I'm a die hard MM fan who purchased this regardless of the price but I feel cheated because of the price.

Dont get get me wrong, I just paid $120 on eBay for a copy of armistice but when it's being sold for $75 direct from the band it's over the top. It feels like a cash grab... it's more about the principle than the price.

  4. I'm listening now to the blu Ray audio in 5.1 and I'm almost through the album. I have to say the first four tracks were so-so in surround sound. But every track after that has been pure gold. You can really hear certain sounds swirling around you and it gives the album a very different feel - in a good way. I'm super tough to please with 5.1 surround music but this done really well. It's a must own!

ps - the stereo sound quality is superb at 24-192
