  1. The new Fiio X3 v2 has a scroll wheel, unfortunately if its like the X1 its like the first iPod scroll wheel that moves but still seems cool.
  2. Well a wheel is a lot easier for scrolling through lots of albums. When I had the sansa clip it wasn't so bad though. Does that iBasso have other controls on its sides? I'm trying to listen through Vox now, downloaded it months ago but never bothered to really use it. Not sure if I can hear a difference from iTunes though. I think I noticed in that Mac thread that you said you use Vox right?
  3. Thanks but I've never been too wild about the button lay out. I still don't want to leave the comfort of the scroll wheel.
  4. Wow! At the very start I was just waiting to see how it would go around the 2:36 part and that was pretty cool! Reminds me of Monkey Drummer.
  5. Ok I just had to track down one of my other favorite new releases in 24 bit.
  6. Darn that reminds me I guess I didn't win that signed test press. Sometimes giveaways take a while after the end date though... My first vinyl win, the guy felt bad that he forgot about his giveaway and sent me an extra record and apologized. I didnt remember the contest so it was a very pleasant surprise. I borrowed an old dvd burner from someone that can't be more than USB 2 and I have found it very quick. I recently did a big rip for me anyways. I used to change my mind about what format and bitrate and re-rip almost once a year but this time I ripped almost everything in lossless so I wouldn't have to do that.
  7. I don't have a DAC and I do most of my digital listening from my old iPod Nano. Just went to turn on the radio right on time for Foo Fighters Congregation to come on again. Geez!
  8. I singled him out because he mentioned DACs and then I noticed the iBasso in his sig and I am thinking of getting a similar but cheaper player. I half thought someone else might say "hey he isn't the only one" but nope.
  9. Yeah that black amp was the one I saw. Oops we scared everyone away with all the head-fi talk.
  10. These days I've been thinking more about Grado because I'm still mostly happy with my HD555s except for in areas where they are weak like rock, but they do well with no amp. I feel like I remember AKG being mentioned for electronic music so maybe I could look more into those. They also look pretty cool I think.
  11. Yeah I think I saw that. I've been looking more than I should. Just heard new sounds in Feast and the Famine wow! I didn't think the Foo Fighters would benefit from 24 bit this much.
  12. Wow those look nice? Don't closed have less open soundstage? Not a big deal for most rock but I love the sound stage of my Sennheisers. There are some decent deals on used HD650s around but then they would need a major amp. Even the guy selling that X3 is selling some saying they are just too hard to drive and I was wondering if they would go well together but that kind of answers that. Going to stick to my easy to drive IEMs. edit: Okay I realized after I said it, IEMs are closed. I mean for full cans I prefer open, sound leaking in can suck but its fine in a quiet room. I might have read that some closed cans can have wide open soundstage too.
  13. I was tempted to ask yesterday! Thanks man I look forward to hearing it. The iTunes version sounds fine so Im interested in hearing the difference.
  14. I regret getting it on iTunes but that should give me the right to have other copies so yes please. Will have to listen on my mac mini for now but I should be getting a good DAC soon, I might even get the new Fiio X3 v2 instead of getting that X3 used.
  15. I love Foo Fighters but not so impressed with the vocals too much. Blame my step dad, he mentioned it once and it kind of stuck in my brain. He's good at screaming a lot. I just heard 3 songs I didn't know. Gotta get me some b-sides. Id like to hear more of Taylor. Out of the 2 songs I saw them do with Led Zep, I liked the Taylor one better. I like that video of Cold Day in the Sun where Taylor ask if it's time for his song and Dave jokes about firing the drummer. That Stairway clip is one of my favorites. The way he sings the solo while playing the rhythm is both amazing and hilarious! Needs one more added to it. That little falsetto in What Did I Do was a surprise. After all these years, I had never heard him do that.
  16. It's ok, everyone can relax now. It was still there and I picked it up. Although someone did grab the Sesame Street so it was a close call.
  17. Oh yes I was thinking too... my stylus broke the other night so could you guys buy me a new one? I'll go start up the gofundme thing real quick. I want at least an Ortofon Red, they seem decent. Thanks! Blah, good morning guys.
  18. I'm going back for Axel F tomorrow. It should still be there but I will let you guys know when I get it home because Im sure you'll be thrilled.
  19. Yeah portable audio has been my main thing for years but I havent had anything capable of playing anything above 16/44. I prefer the ease of use and stability of iPods because most of the other DAPs either have clunky UI or don't do gapless playback and drive me crazy. Ive done the iPod and amp thing and it is awesome. I have currently been planning to put a 64GB SD card into an iPod 5.5G but someone on Head-fi and in WA has a Fiio X3 for cheap because they offered X3 owners a discount on the new X3 v2. Its a lot more than what I was going to spend fixing the iPod, but I don't even know if the iPod will still work after I restore it. I would like to hear something that can play the higher quality files. I have UE Triple Fi 10s that sound pretty good just from my Nano, but could sound a lot better! I recently re-ripped most of my collection as ALAC and AAC. Part way through encoding to AAC with iTunes I discovered another encoder that has support for true VBR which is better than the constrained VBR that iTunes uses. It even goes above 320 but also goes lower for less complex parts so on some tunes it evens out. Constrained VBR is pretty lame (not LAME). I downloaded a high quality vinyl rip the other day because everyone was discussing different pressings of a certain album. My computer can only handle 96 though so I haven't tried listening to it. Sorry guys.
