2¢ from a skinny twig bitch: Gildan can feel rigid but isn’t a dealbreaker. I feel like I have some Gildan shirts that are definitely worn in and feel okay, but others that a little stiff and “scrape”ish. I sure do love me some tri-blend American Apparel for comfort, but I can see where others wouldn’t prefer how soft they are or how they can feel like they “drape” compared to a Gildan shirt.

They’re pretty good about pulling orders down when they suspect they won’t be able to fulfill additional orders. I’ve been stung maybe once or twice at most over the countless orders through them over the years. I think white vinyl works but it’s very situational. Was actually texting about potential variants yesterday and white was my top pick for CODY so we’re on the same wavelength there. I definitely didn’t “need” these but it would be way cool to own a full colored Mogwai discography someday. They seem to be on a roll with colored reissues as of late.

The no (known) limit bodes really well, I’m glad they took this approach instead of 5 different variants /500 – /1,000. I do kind of wish we had gotten a robust box (in the vein of CODY). But alas. If I wanted to nitpick further I think that a [clear] curacao blue would’ve been perfect, for me, but this definitely works. Trying to stay optimistic about the remaster job… it’d be really cool to hear at least 1 song just to get an idea, but I guess we’ll find out in February.

Band’s site is down for “updates”, and “back soon”. 👀 You can be notified when it goes live if you give ‘em your email. I always wonder if the password protecting these sites is something we could ever guess - like how presale codes are usually 1 word or phrase from a particular lyrics or song title - or if they legit want this locked down.

ETR Superfans - Enjoy The Ride Records & More?

I definitely didn’t gloss over it. But the 3-4 posts that immediately followed Toki’s post basically confirmed my suspicion: of any band’s fandom, I would assume that Limp Bizkit’s is probably the most tone-deaf and oblivious to allegations of that variety. I wasn’t going to say anything about it because I’ve already taken some shots at this release, and figured “moving on” without any more shit-posting would probably be in the best interest of everyone. But since you mentioned it and literally 1 or 2 people at most have said anything about it today… here I am. Ya’ got me. If anyone wants to accuse me of “riding a high horse” when I say that I’ve literally never given Ross or his label a penny, I’ll die on this steed. Trash human runs a trash label specializing in trash music. Who coulda’ pieced that together? Note that this isn’t a jab at anyone who’s admitted to enjoying garbage like Limp Bizkit, ironically or not. Historically though, I mean look at what this dude churns out. It’s all cartoon soundtracks and liquid filled video game OSTs, with some occasional high school emo pop / punk sprinkled in for good measure. None of this will stop the determined nostalgia bruhs from scrambling to buy this on Friday. It will sell out in moments and Ross will continue to print money by regurgitating more copies of the same variants ad nauseam. But at least now I’ve properly bitched about it. -

This hobby will forever be a victim to #muhrarity. -
Very interesting. The CODY tease seems a little random compared to 10/27 being YT’s 25th birthday. Really tough to say what they’ve got cooking up, now. I think with YT not having the full spotlight, I agree that a boxset now seems a little less likely… but who knows. The cryptic nature of this drop is exactly why I didn’t try to offload my box for cheap, though. Has anyone pieced together what time this stuff gets announced? 4:00 PM (PST) is midnight for Glasgow but I doubt they’ll go live then. Historically, Mogwai preorders and new album announcements always seem to happen in the (US) mornings.

99% sure I’ve read that it’s Jet Black New Year, and could’ve sworn that Geoff even confirms it in the video clip I mentioned above. I think it was a story posted on FB a few weeks back. -

To no one’s surprise, that set is still up on the Impericon site. Has anyone seen the kind of recent video where Geoff is completely man-handling the vinyl while showing it off and saying “how sick is this? I think this is coolest thing we‘ve ever released.” ? It’s really good stuff. -
Yeah it was. In hindsight I feel silly about all the grumbling I did waiting for that Kickstarter to get fulfilled – sure beats paying for what that record has fetched in recent years. I wish I knew if there were any variants or limited components to the Xuvetyn drop, or if “easily available” speaks to 1,000+ black copies after a slick limited edition goes quick. It sounds like this will be available in indie stores, too, which seems so weird and hard to imagine. I guess I’ll believe it when I see it. Hopefully it does well and also leads to Glissceule on vinyl, someday.

Been teased on social media for a minute by Scott. I keep waiting for more info to get posted, and didn’t realize it was on Discogs already. (Nice catch.) Good to know they’ll ship almost immediately after being able to order… which should be soon. Scott claims it’s going to be a big release and widely available, supposedly.

I remember doing house chores with a burned copy of that album in a CD Walkman. I cannot imagine that’s aged even remotely gracefully. -
Wouldn’t have guessed TRL would be involved given Chemikal has the rights to this one, but stranger things have happened. (Did TRL help with the CODY box or more recently, the EPx3 distribution? I feel like they hadn’t.) Could be just showing some love for a band on their active label but I guess we’ll see soon enough. Would love some domestic shipping options. Also yes, Hugh Dallas is God tier. What a song.

Not to be a bad influence on you, but the CODY box is far & away nicer than any other box they’ve put out. I cherish the hell out of mine and would probably pay that much for a new copy without blinking, personally. But it’s also a top 3 Mogwai album for me so that’s a part of it too. Definitely worth it, and not at all a phoned-in cash grab.

The “deluxe box” is just a cardboard shell with 4 LPs in paper sleeves though. Even the boxsets for their last 2 albums have been nicer quality and more substantial. YT deserves better. I do agree that some live cuts from the late 90s would be great though, I would be way into that. Doubt it’ll happen but I’d love to see a deluxe box for the hardcore, 1 or 2 cool variants for the fiends who just gotta’ own a colored press, and a standard 2LP black vinyl, gatefold, no-frills press for anyone just looking to add an affordable copy to their collection for cheap. Especially if they decide to remaster it or something. I feel like that would cover all bases and make 99% of everyone happy, but it also seems a little excessive for a repress. Feels like that kind of variety is more reserved for their new album POs. Regardless, I’m eager to see whatever they may be cooking up. Will try to taper expectations accordingly.

“Finally” is right. Someone on Reddit - a few months back - spoke with confidence that it wouldn’t be a deluxe boxset reissue. I’m kinda’ hoping they’re wrong or uninformed. Or that the band took some extra time behind the scenes to do something bigger. ‘Cause realistically, it doesn’t make a ton of a sense (to me) to wait for a 25th anniversary and release a hype trailer for just a standard 2LP repress. But what do I know? Stoked regardless; I have that “boxset” but it pales in comparison to something like the CODY box. Having this album receive some kind of premium treatment has been the dream for a while now.
