Man that is crushing to hear. 15 years is a long run though. (Mine was 17.) One of the few things that gives me closure, though, is recognizing that she was adored and showered with attention, love, treats, walks, trips, etc. She had a good life with an environment that most dogs could only dream of. I would imagine that yours lived comparably, too, and at the end of the day that’s all we can really do. Anyway. Cool idea for an Instagram, too. I’ve been toying with a similar concept (but on a website since I don’t really use IG), and began tracking what records I actually play, starting January of last year. It’s helped me filter out a few straggler records that I simply didn’t need to own, and could sell off to make extra room. Regardless of how I feel about the music – not to imply you listen to a ton of stuff I can’t jive with; probably the opposite – I can always admire anyone’s collection if they’re enthusiastic about what they buy and own. Being able to pull any one of 800 records off the shelf and speak to it will always be more impressive (to me) than having a wall of 8,000 records and being unsure about what a random record may be or what it sounds like, where it came from, etc. Too often are Instagram vinyl enthusiasts just hoarding stuff to photograph and flex with. I really support anyone who takes the time to actually show they’re connected to the music on these things.

Quick update to let everyone know that our copies have shipped as of this morning. FedEx is saying the box weighs about 10 pounds, and is coming from Spain. Pray that our corners survive – more updates to follow in this thread.

That Hey!Tonal record is dope. Almost ordered a copy through CS but ended up finding a new copy cheaper on Discogs.

Sorry for your loss. How old was s/he? A sudden loss or a gradual development? As someone who had to endure the loss of a family dog a couple of years back – one present for more than half my time on the planet – I can say that it gradually gets a bit easier, but I definitely think of her often and miss quite a bit, even after the initial sting was at its worst in 2020. I see you in all the Numero threads so I know you’ve got an arsenal of quality slowcore at your fingertips. But anything that feels like a fuzzed out melancholic heady bummer slow burn is what I favored most at that time. Codeine, Duster, Bedhead, etc. Numero-core are great. Sprain. Carissa’s Wierd (like you said) – when you need to give them a break but still want their sound, the debut album from Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick. Low, Grouper (and adjacent Liz projects), Midwife, Have A Nice Life, Sprain, Bell Witch, The Caretaker / Leyland Kirby. I also started to really click with some “bleak” ambient / electronic stuff that I had only dabbled in, like Loscil and Biosphere. Not sure if that’s your bag but it’s made for healthy reflection. Anyway I know this post of yours is a month old – I never really check this sub-board. I hope you’re doing better presently.

Hope that Avalanches record is just an extra copy of yours, because every collection needs at least 1 in it to be taken seriously.

As is the July 2023 estimate. Sort of felt like we were getting a grasp on vinyl PO windows but I fully expect this to use up the entirety of the estimated 9 months. What a tragedy about that variant though. At $53 PPD I don’t think I can do it. Would probably grumble about it and talk myself into pulling the trigger if I didn’t have a copy like you do, but it’s very hard for me to justify half a hundred bucks in this scenario.

I mocked it up in my cart just to see. About $150 or so? 😕 The craziest part is that the standard 2LP is only about $42 PPD which is not shabby at all for an imported double LP… which implies to me that they’re not price gouging. The packaging for that deluxe edition must be top quality or truly next-level – even nicer than the photos suggest. At least I’d hope, at $150.

Album is sick. There’s some really cool stuff happening on it. 43 minutes leaves a lot to dig but on first listen, Nympheas may still be a highlight for me – somehow that track keeps getting better and better, and has cemented itself as one of their best cuts, for me. There’s a few tracks featuring cleaner vocals – maybe not “clean” so much as less aggressive – like 2-3 at most. But I actually think they do a great job at keeping the essence of the band rooted, while giving the album some room to stretch its legs and breathe. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some BIR when they’re all in and pummeling… but 40+ minutes of that kinda’ relentlessness would be fatiguing for sure. Anyway. Zero regrets on the pricy PO. I don’t think it streams for another week, so you’re in for a treat whether you try it out digitally or wait for the record. I find it to (already) be miles better than WALTW, personally.

Yeah, my label has only been created. It looks like there’s been no actual movement on it yet, unless it’s just slow to update.

If you’ve ever doubted that ETR’s interests were always rooted in gimmicky bullshit instead of actual music – and somehow ignored the absolutely drivel they’ve committed to vinyl over the years – I think this lays the argument to rest. On the plus side this is hilarious. Those write-ups are DeviantArt fanfic levels of bad.

A remaster / repress has been confirmed to not only be “in the works” but dropping relatively soon. I’d expect before the year’s end.

Right on. I strongly suspected that this new record wouldn’t sound like the S/T – for obvious reasons – but if a band is gonna’ mature or approach their songwriting in a new light, tapping into GY!Be vibes is pretty ideal in my books. Damn, what variant did you order? Not sure if you’ve seen photos of it yet but the splatter turned out kinda’ perfect. I typically don’t bother with Relapse splatters but the color choices and way it all came together looks so nice. I’m strongly considering grabbing 1 before they vanish.

Whack. Home Alone and Come To Mexico are both awesome additions to any collection. Had no idea the latter has become so sought after.

I really hope that mock-up is a loose interpretation of something like a white “cloudy” marble. Because that putty grey variant is probably one of the worst vinyl colorways of all time. I feel like I haven’t seen it in years. (And haven’t missed it.)

A Newbury splatter just went up, alongside a BrooklynVegan exclusive, and I think I read that Smartpunk will have their own variant go up later this morning? Insane.

So this is officially out today. Anyone give it a spin or have any thoughts? I know copies have been showing up early all week. I didn’t get quite that lucky, but I do have mine out for delivery this afternoon. Which, for a vinyl vs. digital release date in 2022… that works for me.

Sounds like next Friday [10/7] at 9 AM PST. Time to completely forget about this for a week.

Would be very cool to attend to that, 100%. Just wish it was almost anywhere other than downtown LA. I’m significantly closer to it than you, Bronch, but I just don’t think it’s in the cards for me. Settling for that Unwound tour early next year and maybe crossing my fingers that Codeine will take a page from Duster / Unwound and either start touring or recording again. 🤞

I thought I saw a teaser – screenshot from an Instagram story – that had a mock-up of white vinyl with black splatter or wisps or something similar. I don’t necessarily need another copy of this one but I’d sell mine and upgrade if they did a coke bottle green with white labels. The dream. Throw in a booklet and fuck up the design of the spine, and I’m fully in.

No idea what the blue is limited to but +1 for placing aesthetic over rarity. Since it’s all handled by the same label it may be worth a shot to ask if they can swap your order to a blue copy instead of jumping through further hoops. If it’s a “no, sorry” then the refund could be on the table.
