Hope nobody here buys that shit. He won't sign them for dedicated fans but can take a stranger's wad of money for it.
Gonna be tough to make that stick here...
A place where a number of members prefer to flip their purchases for a wad of stranger's money, over reselling at cost to dedicated fans.

Well if you are going to do 2 of their 3 albums, might as well go the whole way and listen to their S/T as well (including the b-side), as that's the one I go back to the most often.
-
Excited to get both BIG and Noname. Store this month is lining up to be a large upgrade on the past couple (outside of the WoD exclusives), IMO.
-
Had a feeling a box would be coming but at that tag, I may be better off just grabbing the albums I would listen to on a regular basis. Would love a boxset of the first half of their discography.

Grabbed the Deluxe from my indie store on Saturday and can't wait to spin this (who also had a ton of indie variants...). Bloody ~$55CAD but the deluxe version of LC is one of my favorite packages so I'm sure this will not disappoint. If the thickness is any indication, I'm in for a treat! Plus Pallas!

It shouldn't suck for anyone given Biggie is available to everyone who is willing to sign-up for one month sub, which then grants you access to the rap/hip-hop add-on.
You should be able to drop $52 for both (or $42 after the $10 credit if you are a new member).

Damn, when they raise it to $29, I only quit my membership 2 months ago and it was $27. VMP lucky its for Biggie
They raised it to $29 for one month subs when they brought out DD.

Excited to hear this. Single out right now

Never listened to this but pumped given the excitement of others around this. Colour-way on the vinyl looks awesome too. Best since The Books last year, IMO.

Yeap, as expected, everyone hates it and I am definitely enjoy it. I prefer Reflektor as it had more meat on the bone, but I am enjoying EN for what it is. Although screw them for that bloody slipcase... I've had the OS with the record in it almost flip out of my hands a couple times now.

If they are doing them all (ala NIN), please just put together an easy to purchase package so I can grab em all in one fell swoop.
That said, knowing Tool and how they are milking their concerts, I expect that package to cost $500.

Shame on Mondo for being honest.... SHAME!

Oddly, Luminous did a lot for me, but that was my intro to the band so maybe it's a first listen thing. But I'm curious to hear this before purchase, first single above sounded a little more up my alley than the second.
Given no variants, I'll grab in store if need be

I ordered on July 17. I'll just sit tight for a little bit longer.
I didn't receive any notice either and then it showed up at the post office. Hopefully you see it within the next week.

I've been no-so-patiently waiting for my box set for a little over two weeks. My order status on Waste says "fulfilled" but does it change to "shipped" when it's actually mailed out?
When did you order? I ordered on Jul-13 and received it about 2 weeks later in Canada.

I've been holding out on grabbing BTF and if I can grab one of those I would be a happy man. Completely missed the opportunity around RSD.
<-- Also extremely jealous for those that actually GET to see NIN live. There are a lot of us that will have to wait til 2018...

Not a huge fan of timed releases like this. Curious why this business model is being employed. Is it to try and capture the obsessives and collectors into dropping cash before fulling forming an opinion on if they need this in their collection? Is it to limit overstock? or is it just to reward those who are on the ball?
Really don't get this angle versus the XXXX number of variants in the wild, or basing the initial run on the first few days of sales and just throwing up a 'Sold Out' when the extra copies sell out.
That said, on my first run through, will do a couple more before making a decision but the timed piece is skewing my opinion and I'm not a fan...

I know it's a petty, stupid thing...but the album is called "Boxer" not "The Boxer."
My bad indeed! Don't know where I got The from... thanks for the correction

Takes less time to find a donor and replacment kidney than receiving a NIN pre-order.
No need to go that far Mind you if you were talking about the wait for a new album after TDS or The Fragile...
"Some people wait several years for a good match, while others get matched within a few months. The average waiting time for a kidney is three to five years, depending on blood type. While you're on the waiting list, notify the transplant center of changes in your health."

Aren't most of their ROTM readily available though? A quick look back it seems Gorillaz/Fiona Apple are the outliers and most stuff was available outside VMP.
Maybe im wrong, but I think before those 2 Four Tet was the only exclusive release they had. Of course I mean their ROTM being variant pressings aside.
I'd say that their ROTMs are readily available around 1/3 of the time in some form elsewhere AND at a reasonable cost. Panda Bear and Main Source were either hard to find, or their previous presses were pricey.
All new releases obviously fall into the 'readily available' category; but they often also do their own remastering (Nina) and put together an awesome packages (The Books) for reissues that are available which does warrant ROTM treatment. That said, their job at finding hidden gems or records that NEED a pressing is going to become harder and harder as more of the 90's/00's stuff is repressed.

So I think they mean it'd be City Music/Betty Davis/Boxer
Bingo, and I love Boxer but I don't think it needs a repress, especially considering both the OG and yellow reissue can be had for less than $30. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it's something else entirely... Boxer is just what the masses are guessing.
-
Would be kind of disappointed if this ends up as Boxer. I love the album but this would mean three months in a row where the ROTM is readily available through other outlets, and sometimes at a much cheaper cost than the VMP membership (frills excluded of course). They will really have to make this special, beyond just a 7", IMO. But heck, they may pull it off...

Holding off on anything this month for now. The Shabazz albums didn't do much for me and those were what I was looking for. May grab the Digable Planets if I can find something else to bundle it with. May also pick up BBNG's LNT but none of the other artist exclusives did much for me. Would of grabbed the Monsters of Folk but it was sold out before the store even opened 'officially' so sometimes I even wonder why they announce some of the titles if the inventory is going to be so small.

I assume this is more a result of TR wanting to try another distributor again, versus actually being sold out. Hopefully this is the case for those who missed out.
I'm still debating whether to stick with my BtB version of TDS or get the DE to complete the set...
