  1. Bah. That was too easy. Yes, Lidstrom leads by a country mile. And Fedorov is the correct answer.
  2. Here's another one: Name the highest ranking ACTIVE player for career plus/minus total that is NOT a defenseman. Hint: This player's current team has clinched playoff berth this season. This one isn't as surprising as the Alex Tanguay question if you stop and think about it.
  3. You'd think so. Paradoxically, he's only lead the league once in his career -- 2005-06 @ 23.2% -- his last year with Colorado. Forsberg was in Philly that year. Deadmarsh had been retired for a couple of seasons by that point, and Drury was turning heads in Buffalo.
  4. I would have never suspected Alex Tanguay. He's a perennial 20+ goal scorer that's good both ways. There's something to be said of quiet efficiency. And I agree completely on the Iggy remarks.
  5. Correct! Alex's career shooting percentage is just shy of 20% - 19.61% He ranks 7th on the career list. The only other active player even close is Andrew Brunette at 37 with 17.8%. I'd award +1 for the correct answer, but you already got it with the Brodeur guess.
  6. It is a pretty well known name. Player was drafted in 98, I think. Player also has a Stanley Cup ring. Sakic is the best guess so far. And those are the last hints I'll give.
  7. Goalies are never included in statistics like that. There are a few defencemen that have made plenty of saves in their day and they're not included in save percentage stats. So no. Not Brodeur or any other goaltender. Way to think outside the box, though. +1.
  8. His percentages are actually respectable -- double digits at least. Around 12% or so on average, I think.
  9. I have no idea, but I know Ryan Malone is leading the league this season. Here's a hint -- the player in question has spent the overwhelming majority of his career in the Western Conference. And it is not a defenseman.
  10. Here's something to think about... Let's see your guesses on who is the highest ranked ACTIVE player for career shooting percentage? No cheating. I was kind of shocked, actually.
  11. I'm indifferent. I'm so desensitized to advertising by constantly being bombarded by online ads, etc, that I hardly notice them anymore. But I do miss some of the old school 80's board advertising...like Gulf. And, really, does Subway need to advertise at all? They've got that damn jingle that sticks in your head for weeks on end...there's a shop at every 5th intersection now...I think they've captured all of the market share they're going to. It's not like anyone is oblivious to Subway. What does stand out to me now is advertisements that are misplaced or contain a message that isn't suited for the location. Like the one at the top of this page, for example: Vinyl Still Exists! Really? No shit! This is Vinyl Collective, isn't it?
  12. Realize this may result in a smite or two, but.... Of Montreal. I'm sorry, but this is damn near unbearable. All of the theatrics and antics, christ. If you want to escape yourself for a while, take some fucking drugs like everyone else and spare us all these ungodly make believe sessions. I mean, seriously. In summary, a quote we should all recognize: "I used to be 'with it', but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm with isn't 'it', and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me."
  13. Agreed. I absolutely love pickles, but they're incredibly high in sodium. One piddly little pickle -- about 20 calories -- has on average a whopping 1000 - 1200mg of sodium -- about 45 - 50% of the reccomended daily intake. Sodium and potassium are what regulate your body's fluid levels and balances. So excess sodium = excess/imbalanced fluid = more jiggly bits. Not to mention the risks of high blood pressure and heart disease.
  14. Mango, Chicken, and Chorizo Quesadillas http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=1687640 I also make these for something quick. They're good for finger food when entertaining as well -- just cut them into smaller wedges. You could swap out the Chicken and Chorizo with vegetarian friendly substitutes -- or pretty much anything else, for that matter. "Healthy" doesn't need to be just vegetables and rice. The key is moderation and portion control. Chorizo, in and of itself, is terrible for you. But diced up and mixed in with other ingredients, you get all of the enjoyment from the food without the fulll repurcussions of eating, say, a link on its own. People often attempt to omit things like fats and carbs from their diets because of the negativity surrounding them. A healthy diet should be balanced. Your caloric intake should be broken down so that roughly one third of your calories are from carbs, one third from fats, and one third from proteins. Doing this requires a lot of pre-planning and dedication. There are some free online resources -- www.fitday.com is one. Just take the time and plug in what you eat on a usual day and see where you stand. I'd also strongly reccomend a multi-vitamin. Your body can't perform properly if it doesn't have all the fuel it requires.
  15. Is jasmine rice somehow different than regular white rice? I thought they were basically the same, i.e., that jasmine was a kind of white rice. Love that stuff. There isn't a variety of rice called "Brown" or "White". Many varieties of rice come in brown or white form. Brown rice is just less refined than white rice and still contains a "shuck" of sorts on the exterior which is comprised of bran and germ and gives it the slightly nutty flavor. Jasmine rice is an aromatic rice of Thai origin. It is a less expensive alternative to Basmati rice which is grown in the Himalayas. Both Jasmine and Basmati are available in their Brown or White forms. Jasmine rice is slightly higher in calories than what we tratidionally refer to as "white rice". I've seen differing opinions as to the rest of the nutritional information, but it seems pretty much the same. So I wouldn't make the switch to Jasmine for "nutritional" purposes, but if you want to add a mild floral overtone to a meal, go for it. It's really great with that curry dish I posted above, actually. You can learn more about the many different varieties of rice by clicking the link below. A lot of these varieties are available in bulk at Asian markets or finer grocery stores. http://www.foodsubs.com/Rice.html
  16. I make this fairly frequently. It's delicious, simple, and is pretty hands off since it is a slow-cooker recipe. Do all the prep and combining the night before, refigerate over night, turn it on the next morning and let it go. Delicious, nutritious meal awaits you when you get home. I usually serve it over brown rice or cous cous. I'd say my wife cooks at most 1 meal per month.
  17. Wow. I'm surprised it took someone so long to try something like that. That's the hockey equivalent of one of those Tim Tebow jump-shot passes into the end zone. And those International rinks look gargantuan compared to our piddly North American ones.
  18. I'm one of the fortunate Floridians that gets to catch this amazing group of guys every couple of months or so. I'll never grow tired of Look Mexico.
  19. The term "pseudo-country" is what made this entire post invalid. Shania Twain is "pseudo-country". And for the record: If it ain't Lucero, it ain't shit.
  20. I challenge anyone to give me a good reason why gay and lesbian marriage should be prohibited that doesn't involve the words "Bible" "God" "Church" or any other such synonyms. And don't play the taxation card either, because that's equivalent in bullshit status. And if your heterosexual marriage suddenly becomes less sacred because the definition of an archaic term has been modernized, I'd suggest you take a long, hard look at yourself and ask some tough questions on your value as both a spouse and/or human being. Marriage is an act of unbridled love, devotion, and commitment. Nothing more. Nothing less. I see not how it need only apply to male/female relationships. I'm a happily married heterosexual male. Nothing burns my ass more than the topic of homosexual rights; specifically, the lack thereof. My wife and I have 4 couples that we're close with -- 2 of which are homosexual male couples. It saddens me deeply that, as an immigrant no less, I have more rights in this country than they. So kudos to you, Vermont. As for the rest of you, States, let's get it together. (Sorry, VC. This really gets me going.)
  21. I just started playing FF12 again. I'm not sure why. That game, while incredible, was frustrating as fuck last time around. Not sure where I'm going to find 100+ hours in my schedule either.
  22. Looks like it's all over but the shoutin' for our dear friends in Buffalo. Unfortunate. Since all of "my teams" are done with the exception of Calgary, I'm gearing up for the draft. Barring any last minute surges by Phoenix or LA, it looks like my beloved Leafs will have the 7th pick unless Burke pulls off some draft day wheelings and dealings. I'd pick either Brayden Schenn © or Evander Kane ©. Would be interesting to see the Leafs build around the brothers Schenn. And Burke certainly has a thing for brothers (see Daniel and Henrik Sedin).
  23. I did some searching and think you're right. He took out Martin Biron when he was skating to the bench for an extra attacker...and then got raped by the entire Sabres team. That's what I was thinking of. Either way, still hilarious.
