My three favorite restaurants in Austin are The Hightower, Winebelly, and Barlata. Hopefully one of those piques your interest!

I've only been to the Amoeba in SF which Waterloo is similar to - Waterloo is a bit smaller though.
Waterloo has more of a mainstream vibe to it while End of An Ear has a more local record store vibe.
How long are you here for? If you want any food recommendations let me know

There's also Encore Records (which I've never gotten around to going to) and Antone's which is mostly used rock/blues/country but also had a couple of more recent and hard to find records when I was there

Waterloo is the big record store in Austin.
Aside from that the only store I know of with a large selection of new records is End of An Ear which I actually prefer because it's closer to my apartment and less crowded (parking at Waterloo can be a bitch sometimes).

Can you be a little more specific? The river cuts through a decent part of town.
End of an Ear and Waterloo have the best selections. Waterloo is at Lamar and 6th. End of an Ear just opened a new spot just off Ben White, but I haven't been to the new location yet. I hear it's awesome though. Waterloo is a bit overpriced, but solid selection.

Oblivions got a reaction from EHughes527 in PO: Pfarmers (the national, menomena members)
I slept on their debut at first but the new record won me over so much that I retroactively started to enjoy the debut. Great band.

Oblivions got a reaction from nancy_raygun in Westworld (HBO Show)
I think he gave a monologue to Bernard in his recreated family cabin about how his dad told him that he would have no purpose and lead a meaningless life in the outside world, so he created his own world. Something to that effect. He is also curious to see what the hosts are capable of and how far they can go (or whether they will surprise him and prove him to be not God). He let Bernard go through that whole history download thing, even though he had been through it before and knew what would happen, because he was hoping that it wouldn't play out exactly as expected.

Oblivions got a reaction from Tommy in Dr Dog - Abandoned Mansion X/450
Dr. Dog is one of my all-time favorite bands, especially the tracks written and sung by Scott McMicken. I'm pretty sure this will eventually get a vinyl release so I'm passing on the cassette and just donating for the download. Thanks for sharing this!

Oblivions got a reaction from dnl in The Walking Dead
I think the point was to create a ratings draw for the season premiere and not to make the most satisfying or well-received creative choice. Drawing out one narrative event across two hours with a break of several months in between doesn't feel like an inspired artistic choice, in my opinion.

Oblivions got a reaction from Snaggle Von Swift in PO: Green Day - Revolution Radio
There are passages on Revolution Radio that remind me of Nimrod and Insomniac but, as a whole, it feels like the band is still trying to appeal to the post-American Idiot crowd with the "rebellious" lyrics and more "showy" studio effects. I'd love to hear raw demo versions for some of these songs before the extra adornment was added.
