  1. I could definitely pick off some items from ohiopride's collection, but at the end of the day I still like mine. I lean towards hardcore and the old stuff. I like my Chung King, all the original Xclaim! releases, OG Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Blacklisted, Ceremony, three Jane Doe's and my pride and joy - my Champion collection.
  2. Yeah, it came out on Century Media. I would post you links to RevHq and Interpunk who did have it, but it looks out of stock right now. I'm sure some distro would have it.
  3. Misuse of the phrase "white whale"!!! I realize I am an old (pushing 40), grumpy and jaded hardcore collector from the 80's. Probably snobby to boot as well. Please keep that in mind as I rant. After 25+ years of collecting, I find it remarkable that so many people on here seem to find "white whales" on a weekly basis! Look, if it is up for auction more than 5 times a year, it isn't hard to get. ebay has made this game easy. If there are 1000+ pressed and it is an independent release, it isn't rare. If you can find it on just about every trade list, it isn't rare. (Friend's presses, tour presses, tour covers) If it is a 40th color from a 10th pressing of a record from 6 years ago that has never gone out of print, but gets counted as a "variant" due to lazy pressing plants who forgot to clean the vat, you are getting taken. This is an artificial rarity that looks good on a web page discography and screws all those who try. You are chasing windmills. You can't win. The game is rigged against you. I'm sure the hardcore Against Me! and No Idea collectors are aware of this fact. It just seems futile. (Not exactly the Sex Pistols God Save the Queen single on A&M, even though there are probably more copies of that than some inane Against Me! variation.) Rant over. Sorry to all who take offense, I didn't mean to piss in your Corn Flakes. I guess I would just call it getting a record off your want list instead of slaying the white whale.
  4. The black with no labels was sold first at Sound and Fury (stated as 300) and then they kept selling them on their summer tour (total of 500), so to avoid confusion just go with black with blank labels / 500. So to summarize: Green/100 - Friends press Black/500 - Sound & Fury 2008/Summer Tour press Grey/900 White/1500 Olive/1000 - 2nd press
  5. Here's a question: How do I get my list OFF recordnerd? The only way I have seen is item by item. Screw that.
  6. I saw this on the Southern newsletter. Absolutely intriguing especially as a fan of Sunn O))), KTL, Red Sparrowes, Grails, etc. Now up for preorder: The (Fallen) Black Deer – Requiem LP (Latitudes) The (Fallen) Black Deer is the collaboration between Greg Burns (Red Sparowes) and Josh Graham (A Storm Of Light). Recorded specially for the Latitudes series; a never-to-be-repeated masterpiece which sees Burns and Graham improvise their own score to Stanley Kubrick's classic, The Shining. Like the CD version released earlier this year, the 180g black vinyl is limited to 1000 copies only, with art designed by Stephen O'Malley (Sunn 0)))). https://www.southern.net/eu-shop/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=21515
  7. Manual turntables gentlemen, manual turntables. They are also essential for reverse groove records ie. Pulling Teeth - Witches Sabbath.
  8. It's not sold out. I just ordered it two minutes ago. Go to the US option and choose Canada in the shipping option. They even do the conversion to Canadian dollars. Come to think of it, I always order from SL this way. It's all good - except the price.
  9. It's up at Firestarter Records. http://www.firestarterrecords.com/catalog/ There is no way there can be too many of these left after the Euro tour and the Ten Car Pileup show. Boo -ya!
  10. $3400 Judge - Chung King Can Suck It $380 Minor Threat - Filler w/ yellow cover $360 Negative Approach 7" $200 Judge - Bringin' It Down on green $200 Bad Brains - Pay to Cum 2nd press
  11. As promised, here are some pictures. The vinyl is dead mint, really quiet in the dead wax with no cracks or static at all. The cover has some creases, but is good for the most part. i blame weak ass European cardboard. The package arrived in less than a week and was handled well, it was just that the cardboard mailer is so soft. I have had the same problem before and even with Reflections mailorder. Step it up Euros! Anyway, here it is. Number 96 with a bullet!
  12. I will post pictures when I get it, no problem. I have been tracking the Chung King and it has made it overseas and into Canada, cleared customs today in Montreal, and is on its way by Expresspost to Calgary. I am pretty relieved to this point.
  13. It's 11:30 and the club is bumpin', bumpin'
  14. I forked over an extra 80 euros to have it tracked, insured out the ass, and have it within 5 business days. I also instructed the seller step by step on how to package it up. and yes, I am freaking out.
  15. You know, it wasn't more than a month ago that I tried to get one of Sebastiaan's Chung King's off him around the same time he was selling that insane Uniform Chioce set. That was when I found out that you pretty much had to come over the top with a price to peel one away from one of the few that hold them! An original Love Buzz is a good trade for a Chung. I have seen one go for $4000 once. Anyway thanks for the kind words!
  16. Yeah, four years ago. http://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=chung+king&thumbs= Records doubling in price over that time period is consistent across genres. This was a private sale that STARTED with two bids at $3000.
  17. Well, I guess first I am going to register it with Revelation and then take a few thousand pictures of it and post them here and at deadformat. Update my HYE list, listen to it a couple times and then file it between my Judas Factor - Kiss Suicide and Judge - Bringin It Down. Believe me, this is a once in a lifetime deal. I have never before nor will I ever again spend this amount on any one record. At the same time I was spending up to a grand a month on ebay buying color variations of records I already had, so if I stop using ebay for the summer, I will have broken even on spending. I still can't believe I did it, so I will let you know if the juice is worth the squeeze.
  18. I counted nine. Hard to believe that close to 10% of the entire run are still with the record company.
  19. To add to the lore. This record is a BIG deal in the HC community. http://doublecrosswebzine.blogspot.com/2008/04/tale-of-chung-king-collection.html
  20. Hey Matt, Have you noticed the increase in all early Rev releases? Bringin It Down on green is at least 5x as much as it was three years ago. Same with the Together comp 7 inch, Gorilla Biscuits Start Today on purple and don't get me started on a Lower East Side Crew on clear! What do you think is accounting for it? Weak US dollar and more Europeans getting in on the action? Maybe it's just time? I would like your thoughts.
  21. Matt, that is exactly what I'm talking about!! The last one I saw was sold by a guy that Mike Judge gave one to. Just crazy. Tell me all about the Rev vault. I'm giddy!
  22. Well congrats dude! You've got the Holy Grail of vinyl, and if you can afford it, hats off to you man. You don't need to justify it to anyone. Enjoy it, and take incredible care of it. From one Canadian to another, thanks man! +1
  23. I know. I have more money than sense. But it wasn't really about the money as much as the opportunity. Living in nowhere Canada, there was never a chance to get it. They don't show up on ebay and if they ever do get ready for sniper-fest! It seems the people that had it from the start were band guys, scenesters or the luckiest guys on the planet. I am at a place in my life where I could do it financially, but believe me it is weirding me out big time.
