  1. No ebay. The guy was posting at B9 and Deathwish. He had two offers of $3000 to start. he also has a Chain of Strength True till Death with silver sleeve and a Floorpunch on orange. Absolutely crucial straight edge hardcore vinyl. Ok, the ring was a bit more. I was going for the effect man!!!!
  2. When I pressed the send money icon at paypal, I felt excited, sick, dumb and anxious all at the same time. I mean, I have always wanted one and never thought I would ever have the opportunity. This was the white whale of white whales. On the other hand I just spent more for a record than it cost to take my family on vacation to Hawaii or my wife's engagement ring. I'm sure this feeling will pass once I get the record and it is safely in my collection. Anyone else had this feeling?
  3. Not quite yet. I am looking to unload a lot of records once my second kid comes, so keep checking back. I will post any sale I end up doing on the board.
  4. Plenty of good stuff for sale. Low starting bids. American Nightmare, Hope Con, Down to Nothing, Sinking Ships, This Is Hell and more. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZbuckywunderlick
  5. If you have to tip toe around to avoid jumping or skipping a record, wall mount. That's it. All other options of putting stuff under your turntable will screw things up. Enough with the space foam crap!!! The platter must be level to work with how much you had to adjust your stylus. You have gone through, or had someone go through, adjusting the vertical tracking angle, the tracking weight and the azimuth and then you are going to put a pillow under the turntable???? Man up and start drilling holes in that wall. A little poly-fil and paint and no one will know you were there.
  6. Living in Western Canada, the Reflections order showed up last Sunday, Relapse on Tuesday.
  7. mailorder exclusive from Southern Lord - 180 gram black vinyl, 1000 pressed. 3800 total.
  8. I totally understand, but heaven forbid you ever want a Boris record after it is sold out from the distros or label. The secondary resale market (ebay) will without a doubt be more than picking it up in the first place.
  9. Rush - Moving Pictures in grade 6. I think it was standard issue for all Canadians.
  10. Heads up everyone. The triple vinyl lp is up for order at Southern Lord now.
  11. Since no one has asked after three pages of comments, is Friday Hawaiian shirt day?
  12. My two cents worth since I spent upwards of $12,000 on records through ebay last year. Point blank and simple, it is the only worldwide medium which provides access to the records I want. For years, I wanted the complete XClaim catalog, Dischord 1-6, Rev 1-23 color variations, etc. No amount of record store hunting in Calgary, Alberta, Canada is going to pay off. Never. Ebay made it possible for me to obtain records that were released regionally and in short supply. Now everyone on the face of the earth with internet access has a shot at a record that was released 20+ years ago and is considered a piece of punk/hardcore history. For me to think that prices wouldn't escalate due to this supply/demand structure is naive. I know the game and am willing to play along because in the past, there was no chance of even being invited.
  13. I'm not sure about the romantic notion of doing private sales on this board, B9 or Dead Format is about sharing the love as much as saving the seller money in ebay and paypal fees. Those costs add up, especially on higher end items.
  14. For what passes as metal these days, in the doom, drone, ambient vibe, Boris Isis Jesu Neurosis and the mother of expensive/rare - early Sunn O))) Check out popsike for Sunn O))) records, it is mindblowing. For hardcore, everyone is on the money but I would add original X-Claim! records in there as well. SSD, DYS, Jerry's Kids and the FU's are hot items that go for big bucks.
  15. I'm old. Clean comes with the territory. Actually it is the one part of the house the kid doesn't get to trash.
  16. 13th Floor did a gatefold sleeve for the first press. That is the dead giveaway. They repressed with a normal sleeve next. In 1989 XXX Records out of LA repressed it. That version is almost as rare as the original. Everything subsequent (picture discs, etc) are on the label you mentioned.
  17. I don't know if this would matter to anyone on this board judging from the music tastes and relative age of releases, but I threw down hard on a private sale. I ended up with: Infest - Machismo 7" original Bold - s/t 7" on orange Gorilla Biscuits - s/t 7" 1st pressing w/ light blue lettering Last Rights - Chunks 7" Negative Approach - s/t 7" (major want!!!) SOA - No Policy 7" Token Entry - Ready or Not 7" (real deal) Crippled Youth - Join the Fight 7" on clear Bl'ast! - School's Out 7" Slapshot - Same Mistake 7" FU's - Kill For Christ on xclaim (original) FU - My America on xclaim (original) Jerry's Kids - Is This My World? on xclaim (original) Minor Threat - Out of Step 1st press with black back Minor Threat - Out of Step German press with DM price on cover Minor Threat - 2 7" on a 12" 2nd press with blue cover Social Distortion - Mommy's Little Monster 1st press on 13th Floor Uniform Choice - Screaming For Change 1st press Yellow lettering Youth of Today - Break Down the Walls Rev 80's press The Way It Is comp 1st press with huge booklet and colored labels Bl'ast! - The Power of Expression on Wishingwell Bl'ast! - It's In My Blood Bl'ast! - Take the Manic Ride Cro-Mags - Age of Quarrel with uncensored inner sleeve To think it only cost as much as my first car.
  18. If collecting hardcore and wanting the rarest colors or lowest print runs, you have to hit up the labels directly. Deathwish/Malfunction, Bridge Nine, 1917, Rivalry, Youngblood, Lifeline, Reflections, 6131, Think Fast!, Trash Art, etc. all are excellent labels and all offer pre-orders. I find this is the only way to ensure you have a chance of getting all the colors of a record. RevHq is excellent for Revelation releases (duh) but distro wise, be prepared to get the most generic versions, usually black. Interpunk packaging is ridiculous and expensive. Be prepared for spine cuts because of the loose records. Very is awesome these days because of their policy on shipping records outside of the outer sleeves. No more damaged covers!
  19. No Heroes on clear is the find of the week! It is as rare (500 pressed) as the preorder on gold. Made my day for sure!
  20. Replacing a needle is tricky business. It is way better to replace the entire cartridge and get some audiophile store to do it. They will do it professionally, taking alignment, weight, azimuth angle, etc into consideration.
  21. I have a VPI HW-16.5 record cleaning machine and they recommend cleaning brand new records as much as old dirty ones. Apparently the pressing process can leave quite a bit of debris/microscopic bits of plastic in the grooves that can lead to pops/skips/fuzz. Unfortunately, really good quality vacuum cleaning machines are pretty expensive. Mine was over $500. They do work really well though.
  22. Minor Threat - s/t 7" with the yellow sleeve SSD - The Kids Will have Their Say orginal on XClaim signed by Jamie Sciarappa I don't even like having my friends hold them!
  23. Here is my Champion collection so far. I have a little ways to go, but I am getting there. I didn't include the Betrayed split or any of the comps (Power of Ten Vol 2 , Coastal Flooding, etc.) If anyone has either of the two green Come Out Swinging B9 presses, hit me up!
