  1. From their myspace... Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Hello late 2008. Sorry, haven't logged on in a while. Matt's itching to do a new record. I've sent him a few instrumentals, he sang some ideas he had for them. Not really sure when we'll have the time to actually put an album together and record it but it would be fun to spend no more than two weeks doing it. I'm feeling a very stripped down vibe. So when it all happens it will probably come out on Epitaph with Vinyl Collective doing the wax. I'll be honest though, no live shows or any of that. Just tunes. No t-shirt designs or videos. Could be fun. Have a nice Fall (see you next trip?) xoxo
  2. How is People of the Sun 10" limited? It was issued over 10 years ago. Is it back in print, or reissued? Any know? I have a copy from a long time ago.
  3. Alkaline Trio "Goddamnit Redux" 2nd pressing vinyl is finally back in stock. Here's what we got available for mailorder: 227 copies on 180 GRAM BLACK VINYL and 261 copies on WHITE w/ red swirled in. The shipping history is as follows: 1,000 180 GRAM BLACK VINYL 1,000 WHITE w/ red swirl 1,000 BLACK w/ white swirl (This is a hot topic exclusive... yeah, I know what you're about to say, but they've been nothing but good to us) Everything else has been shipped out to VINYL COLLECTIVE and record stores across the globe. The first pressing only went to a handful of stores, so this second pressing was mostly done to appease our retail accounts and that's why there's so few for mailorder. Peace, Mike Park [email protected]
  4. In all fairness, Jay Reatard has already been around for like 10 years. Sure, but not to you or I. His music is average and his schtick is somewhat irritating. He's popular right now, but people aren't going to give a shit about some variants in his vinyl color and covers in a couple years. People are buying his vinyl because its popular, collectible and sure to go OOP within weeks. He and Matador do make a great marketing team though.
  5. If you buy for the music there is no need to worry. Jay Reatard won't be around in two years, and no one will be hunting for his music.
  6. This is a joke. The colors won't stop here either. As long as there are 300+ people who will need to keep their collections going, the labels won't stop pressing different colors. My opinion has always been, buy music for the music, not to have a full shelf of the same record. Take that $35 and buy three or four reasonable priced records. Maybe you find a new band you love. Alkaline has been putting their name and logo on anything to make a buck. Of course, we consumers need to decide where collecting becomes a hobby or just plain compulsive. Things changed around the time Derek joined the band and they've now become the definition of sell outs.
  7. when this album came out I thought alkaline trio had gone to shit. now looking back, it's decent compared to crimson and agony. here's to hoping for more heavens and falcon... pass for me.
  8. Being Finnish, I can tell you that the B-side "Mustaa Lunta" means "Black Snow".
  9. I haven't received mine yet. I called AMR and they shipped before July 4th. Told me to wait a week since media mail can take 10 business days... we'll see.
  10. 2nd that. i thought Full Throttle was OOP, did Thick repress this? Kiss Your Ass Goodbye is still the best, great cover too.
  11. Anyone know if these are these truly represses or reissues? Thanks.
  12. few years ago in brooklyn, gang of four - entertainment mekons - fear and whiskey clash - london calling and at flea garage sale few years ago most smiths, cure and christian death - all a buck
  13. OK, good. Just thought people should know and somehow I missed this thread.
  14. How this hasn't been posted on here is beyond me. Alkaline Trio will play a free show at the 330 seat Lakeshore Theatre on July 1st for 330 people. You must go to Reckless Records in Chicago and buy their LP to get a wristband. There is no call in, must buy direct. I got mine and understand there are 20 seats left.
  15. rarely, typically only causes more interest in the band and demand for the vinyl. org presses tend to go up. didn't affect goddamnit. i just hope they do one color repress of a couple thousand copies. what won't go up over time is the demand for multiple repress colors.
  16. VC posted two for a very reasonable buy-it-now. Thought someone who missed these would want to now.
  17. 2nd this. Each of these colors has the same music on it. Take that extra money and go check out something new. The reason they'll repress Crimson is because there will be at least 1000 people who will go buy a limited 2nd press.
  18. Was it really pressed out of 5,000? I hadn't heard a number until now. Who knows, but if Sunn O))) can sell out 5,000 lps then AM should be able to in no time.
  19. if you can snag it for $50 new and sealed I'd do it. i'd make sure it's an original, don't see that often
  20. Is this the same The Weight that put out Ten Mile Grace on Sabot and Ships & Stay Out 7" also on Sabot?
  21. My guess that the 100 copies would sell in less than 24 hours was WAY off. As I mentioned last week, this will be a $100 record on ebay. Who gives a shit about the cover, it's a great album.
