  1. Yeah, it looks really cool. It's just, so much money to own a single album (sprawled over five discs). And I even have it on vinyl, so I care that much less. But it's such a good album, if it had been more reasonable, I would have picked it up.
  2. I can't recall which guitarist left the band for HTSAF, but the original FSF lineup were the same as the lineup of the great Strongarm that recorded "Advent of a Miracle." It's pretty interesting that the core group of guys could never keep a vocalist. Strongarm had two screamers (the original Jason, then another dude also named Chris who played guitar for Strongarm originally). And of course FSF had three different vocalists.
  3. Not a mint but more than I would have guessed: http://www.collectorsfrenzy.com/Default.aspx?ctl00%24SearchKey=hootie+and+blowfish&SortKey=0&x=50&y=4
  4. +1 This has been my favorite album since I got it in the mail in 2001. I was lucky to hear about FSF when they started and I followed them fanatically through every year. I thought the original line up had something special and that TMID had an original sound. That said, a two-song 7" that doesn't include any new material doesn't seem like a smart way to warm fans back up to the band.
  5. I've heard a lot of friends complain that those 'all-in-one' record players die quickly. Usually one of the components goes then something else stops working and so on. If you want something practical, buy a portable record player. They're not as cheap (especially older models) but you can find some of them at a more reasonable price than a standard turntable. It will require little set up and last you a lot longer than what you're looking at with those 'all-in-one' units. Plus you can take it with you to record shows to listen to vinyl or to someones house.
  6. Didn't see anything on my list, eh?
  7. Hey mate, I got some Tribe and other things that I'm trying to get rid of: http://www.deadformat.net/topic.php?id=28409
  8. The girl at Hot Topic intentionally calls them vinyl. Drives me crazy.
  9. Today: Hot Water Music - "Live In Chicago" Vol. 2 Hot Water Music - "Live In Chicago" Vol. 3 Hot Water Music - "Live In Chicago" Vol. 4 And I traded 3 records that I paid $6 for total.
  10. I've got "From Here To Infirmary" make me an offer.
  11. I will check that out. See if you can find that link. I think I'm going to order the 7". I'm excited to hear the song about the Marigny. I live near that neighborhood in New Orleans. I looked at your tradelist, is it up to date?
  12. Thanks for the info. I got the "Needle Bed" CD in 2006 and honestly, I wasn't that impressed. It took a bunch of listens. And, now, when it comes on my iPod, I don't skip it everytime. You can find "They Would Walk Into The Picture" cheaply used. It's a great CD. They had a lot of promise. And their songs on "From The 27th State" split CD with FSF were so good.
  13. Let's bump a two month old thread with nothing of substance. Brilliant. By your need to retort, I'm surprised you even understand the concept of substance.
  14. He was in Recess Theory right? Their first album that came out on Takehold is still in my collection. "Ode To Be An Anchor" is a great song.
  15. As long as it's on vinyl, I don't care how it comes out! This +1
  16. I thought he was generally interested in learning about Eastern philosophies.
  17. If it's not listed, it's black. Sorry, I read that, just an oversight. It looks like all the good stuff is pending!
  18. What's the other "Dial In Sounds" besides white?
  19. Did you PO this from Fat Wreck or buy it elsewhere? Just curious.
  20. why is this the stores fault? seems dumb for a profit making corporation to lose money solely so one person can get merchandise at a loss for the company. I imagine if the entire store was not cost effective they would close the store and relocate it. Might as well move the vinyl to somewhere where it might sell for full price (for a profit), than let it sit and go out for a loss. If the only reason you went in there was to buy clearanced records, you really werent supporting the store anyway, so i doubt the district manager could care less if you ever go in there again. Firstly, it is the stores fault for choosing to discontinue having vinyl available. Yet, I didn't say they couldn't do that because clearly they did. Nor could I prevent them from closing if they chose to. I was simply lamenting over the fact that I will not be able to buy records from them again. Clearance or not. Can you read? I originally said I was the only person who bought vinyl there because I never saw anyone else looking at the same time, but it's absurd to believe that only I shopped for records at this particular store. There is no way of proving that empirically without looking at sales figures. But the store has been selling LP's for a few years, so it stands to reason that it must have been cost effective at some point, or else they wouldn't have continued the practice for so long. It's also naive to believe that just one person buying records on clearance was creating a loss for the store. Perhaps they were losing some money on clearance weekend. But, like you said, they would close the store and relocate if they weren't making enough to profit considerably. So, me buying records and only shopping on clearance probably assisted them in making a little profit because they would be guaranteeing some sales, regardless if the margin of profit was cut by 75%. And HT has those sales to get rid of stuff that they would have sent back to the warehouse. They do make money, albeit a small amount, whilst clearance sales abound.
  21. Not really info. I can share I know, and I wasn't really trying to get you to spill the beans if you have any relevant info. Just speculating at what their revenue would need to be to justify them keeping vinyl in one shop versus another.
  22. Would make sense to put records in stores that will sell them, no? Sure. I get it. Just sucks it happens to the store near me. And I wonder how much they sold? What was their idea of a successful bottom line?
  23. I just need to bitch that the main HT here with vinyl sent it all back because they never sold it (except for when I bought it on clearance, haha). So annoying to stock so much of something then decide it's not cost effective. The entire store is not cost effective. I wish I could tell the local district manager that I will never go in there now because I have no reason to.
  24. Was it just the colored ones that came from the Fat Wreck PO? Did Shop Radio Cast get any color vinyl?
