  1. I used to not buy any also, but I found you can get some for more reasonable prices. I traded a guy for a test of the rerelease of Strongarm's "Advent of a Miracle" and that's probably only going to go for $50-75 online given the value of the original. Consequently, I just bought a test of John Coltrane's seminal album "Blue Train" for $40. Granted, it was a reissue but a it's been remastered and it's in stereo as well. The 200gram record itself costs around $18 new, so I figured it was a nice investment for a stellar album.
  2. Who has the money for this? I guess the kids probably just charge it to a credit card. Seems like NOFX would have a song about spending a grand on a test pressing of theirs if you can't pay cash for it, amirite?
  3. I'm still looking forward to hearing this. And, of course it's naive to believe that these guys would make another record like STWHA, lyrically or sonically. They're in their mid-30's now, they have families, kids, etc...they're at a total different place in their lives. I think The Get Up Kids have progressed each record. I like "Guilt Show" a lot and thought it was a fine bookend to their career. I will be sad if they get back together to just 'cash in' (which is what releasing seven different variants of a four-song EP seemed like to me). But so far this seems like a proper album that they took their time to write and they're doing a huge tour. They're a good band and they deserve all the accolades they receive.
  4. I have every color except the pink one. Would like the pink one but willing to sell them if I can't get it.
  5. Was glad to give the guy $40. He writes phenomenal music, poignant lyrics that deal with personal themes (relationships, religion, family) in the most insightful way, and just happens to be one of the nicest people I have ever met in my 30 years on this earth. Of all the people to sit on his/her ass and rake in the dough, it's not this guy. Hell, he was killing with tours and record sales at the height of Pedro the Lion. But because he didn't want to seem disingenuous when he no longer accepted the tenants of Christianity, he dropped the PTL name, partly to separate himself from it and to not to lead people on in believing that he still felt the same way. This meant losing record and tour sales simply because the correlation between Bazan and PTL wasn't there. If the guy really wanted to just sit at home and not work, he'd reworked PTL and done the same thing. There would have easily been 5,000 preorders.
  6. I hate this band but the guy behind the "music" has an interesting story. He had insomnia and stayed up and wrote this past record in his parent's basement over several months. How many million copies has he sold now? I'd say he made the best out of an annoying situation. All I do when I have insomnia is lose money at online poker and debate you assholes on the legitimacy of Soulja Boy's career.
  7. If new material comes out of this reformation, it will be interesting to hear what music comes out of this. The Moon Is Down will be the best music these guys ever make.
  8. Thanks. I was going to buy one from the label but it was obviously a better choice to get it from SRC.
  9. I was a best man once. When my friend asked, I told him that I was afraid of public speaking and wouldn't want to make a speech (sorta true). Thinking back, I should have just done it but it was something I was terrified of. When we were at the reception, the photographer called for the speech and I freaked out because I had nothing prepared. Turns out, we were just taking 'speech/toast' pictures, which were really funny because I was standing there saying, "I'm supposed to be acting like I'm giving a speech but I'm not" while half-posing for the photographer. Just say nice things and don't ad lib too much. You might end up saying that you're the best man if there's an open bar.
  10. that's been sold out for a while partner. Perhaps, but only recently has it been so that it couldn't be added to one's cart. I added it a few times and never got a message like now.
  11. I listened to mine today. Whoever previously said Chris' singing is weird was spot on. He's got this strange vibrato that I don't remember him having.
  12. Damn, looks like the yellow/black splatter for the Bane record is gone. I added to my cart and waited too long.
  13. I like his tenacity, er... perhaps I like his knack for wanting to do something but willing to do it for less money and offer more fitting incentives.
  14. So, this is probably one that it won't matter but here she/he goes again: http://cgi.ebay.com/FURTHER-SEEMS-FOREVER-ACOUSTIC-7-MOON-DOWN-/320636059940?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item4aa7660124
  15. I got this today. The vinyl was just sliding in-and-out of the sleeve. No apparent damage but this has been annoying. Granted, there have been worse preorders.
  16. Dude, you've got a ton I'm interested in. Perhaps you'll find something on this list that you're interests you: http://www.deadformat.net/topic.php?id=28409
  17. I'm so glad you dudes call assholes out on their shit. He's got something I was interested in but now there's no way I would ever buy anything from this dickhead.
  18. "Lost At Sea" was their best album. I dug "Homecoming" but Ted Bond is really a good writer and it came out on "Lost At Sea". T&N didn't sign them to a third record because they wanted to experiment and be more than just a punk band. Or so I heard seven years ago...
  19. Hey mate, I got a few plus a ton of other things I'm selling: http://www.deadformat.net/topic.php?id=28409
  20. It was easier to do it than not. This is one of those things that once it is not longer available, we'll kick ourselves that we didn't buy it.
  21. I just bought it. I hope these acoustic versions sound really great.
  22. Yeah, this is pretty funny, 5 albums for the band and not one with the same singer. Haha. Actually, Chris (Carbonell, second singer of SA) played drums for them originally. You're right, I just check the Atonement liner notes. I was looking at Wikipedia for the quick info last night and they switched Chad and Chris' roles.
