So pumped to finally have this on vinyl. Also picked up Digger Powerbait with this order. Classic. -
Train - Save Me, San Fransisco 12"
allhailritter replied to beags's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
This is true, but I'm sure most of us actually "learned the hard way" and didn't claim the seller to be a scammer and tried to get their money refunded through Paypal or by threatening to give the seller negative feedback. I wouldn't have anything negative to say about the OP if he realized he made a mistake and learned from it, instead he is trying to put the fault on someone else instead of himself. -

You only have yourself to blame for this one. The fact that you are going to try and claim he is a shifty scammer is a dick move in my opinion. He could have listed it for 1,000.00 if he wanted to and if some moron decides to buy it before doing any research than good for him. Live and learn, don't go punishing someone else for your own stupidity. -
Story of the year - page avenue?

I would definitely buy this although I would rather "In the Wake of Determination" get pressed. That album is what got me into these guys. -
THRICE. As far as I'm concerned, they don't even exist anymore.

See I think it sounds more like suck mixed with a little bit of pure suck. Epic fail!

I dig the new tune. I have to disagree about their last album(Uplifter). I actually think that album is awesome start to finish. My favorite out of their last couple of albums.

Well I never said "I don't listen to shitty bands" and although I do believe my musical taste is far superior than the rest of the humans on this planet, I can see how my original comment may have come off that way. Now I see your deadfromat link and I get what a tradelist is, so I will start working on creating mine thanks.

As long as you guys keep responding, I'll keep posting sport.

Phew! Good thing Old Man Markley doesn't have accents because we would have to hate them too. I love Old Man Markley. What's a trade list?
-
I'm not 18, I am definitely not a hipster, I think their album is really good, I think most of the people on this board pride themselves on listening to shitty bands and like to hate on good bands, I think most of the people on this board suffer from dumb.

I love the Dogfish Head extreme beers. I don't like the Raison d'Etra all that much but I could drink d'Extra all day... They all (Extra, 120 and World Wide) have a very similar taste but I think that they all rule. If the World Wide Stout is too much for you then you should try the Bitches Brew. It's a really nice middle ground between the Chicory (which falls short imo) and World Wide Stouts. Old Rasputin is a bit too carbonated for me... The flavor is there but I need to let it sit. And Ten Fidy rules. Bitches Brew is fantastic, Palo Santo and Burton Baton are all fantastic "dark ass beers" from Dogfish. I'm a huge Dogfish fan.

Oh Ben Weasel, You Dinosaur, You! (SXSW Fight)
allhailritter replied to patron's topic in Everything Else Message Board
It sure sounds that way. Maybe my comment about him having a reputation for being a "cockbag" might hold true for more than just fans (i.e. his own band mates). I know i wouldn't completely bail on a band member after making one bad mistake, but if he continually proved to be an asshole than that would be a different story. -

However, 1. the video doesn't show the whole story (is there even proof that he punched the first person instead of trying to disarm her of ice?) and 2. there is a LOT of good that can come out of this in the long run if we all put our hearts in a positive place. I don't know what video you saw, but in this one you can clearly see him try full out punch her in the face and he takes a pretty hefty swing. And for those saying "did he even hit her or did he miss?" well thats besides the point. He swung at her with the intention of physically harming her and thats what makes him a scumbag. Him making contact or not is irrelivent. Not to mention that he started throwing punches at the woman(apparently the club owner) who tried to stop him. Also leading up to the show he was making non-stop comments about how bad he didn't want to play the show and bitching about money. Then it also seems like all he did was bitch about it in between songs. I probably would of at least heckled him too to shut up and play, as it seemed people where doing. If this guy didn't have a reputaion for being a cockbag then I'd say after a while it should just blow over, he should apologize, and eventually people should just look past it. But...he is an asshole and he deserves everything thats coming to him from this. Apparently they took off before the police could arrive to the scene. Sounds like a big fucking coward as well. -

http://www.spinner.com/2011/03/20/screeching-weasels-ben-weasel-sxsw-2011/?icid=maing|main5|dl10|sec3_lnk3|50909 Anyone see this? Never knew Ben Weasel was such a douchebag. I never really liked them but I liked what I heard from this album. I was going to buy it but I won't be after seeing this. -
MY WISH CAME TRUE!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH No just kidding. In reality I feel like an ass now for sticking up for this guy because he obviously doesn't know how to conduct a business. Actually he sounds like a huge fucking moron. Anyone who has mailed out records knows you can't mail them out the way he did. What an amatuer. I managed to get the 2 packs and I'm thankful that the othere guy is handeling them. I think offering a "partial refund on the shipping cost" and thats it, is straight up insulting and moronic. You better do a lot more than that or go into business under another name if you ever want people to buy from you again.

I'll second the Bose comment. In fact I HATE Bose. Bose was an innovator back in the day and made a name for themselves, now Bose simply relies on marketing their name. The average person that does not know much about audio knows at least one kind of speaker....BOSE. Their product is mediocre and overpriced. Sorry for the Bose rant. I worked for a company that sold bose products and I learned to hate Bose because of it. Anyway, I haven't done much research on newer consumer speakers but I can definitley make some suggestions on vintage speakers. Most polk speakers made in the late 70s and 80s are solid products. They pretty much dominated then. I own a pair of Polk SDA 2as. These things are beasts but they sound amazing. Also the polk Monitor series are great speakers. The Polk Monitor 10s are solid speakers and are fairly easy to come by if you search craigslist and whatnot. Im no expert but from what I gathered from reviews and other audiophiles, a lot of people will say that anything new put out by Polk doesn't compare to a lot of the vintage models which is mostly due to the fact that they are now cheaply made and the care put into designing and making the speakers is not what it once was. Quanity over quality. Which can be said about a lot of companies nowadays. I'll also second what phil said. Look for how solid they are. One of the things that made vintage speakers great was how they where built like a tank which made for much smoother low tones. Also the multi driver configuration you will want. At the very least a tweeter, 1 mid driver and a sub. Anyway sorry for the ramble, good luck
