  1. this is basically what i was trying to say rambo, like i said, i have no idea how hard it would be personally to try to "get big" on a vegan diet. i was just trying to say that for a normal person not trying to do that that it's not as hard as they may think to get the recommended amount of protein.
  2. i originally got hooked by the fact that she writes her own lyrics (every song on speak now!), which i thought was awesome for someone who is "top 40's". and they actually have deep personal meaning with i thought was really cool.
  3. i actually don't have a huge problem with animal-friendly farms, i'm still not ok with it for myself but it's way better then the alternative for meat eaters. if you're looking at it from a health aspect, the thing with animal products is that they have cholesterol in them. our body already produces the right amount of cholesterol. add to that the fact that animal production is really inefficient (7 or 8 lbs of grain:1 lb of beef for example) its not really doing any good for the environment. also, i wonder where some of those farms are getting some of their feed from if its not completely self-sustaining. just some thoughts
  4. i literally just read that with my girlfriend sitting right next to me LOL
  5. also i have seen forks over knives...that was a great documentary. still haven't gotten around to watching earthlings...its been sitting in my itunes for a few months, i'm just a little freaked out about seeing the animal cruelty because i've read about what they do in factory farms and don't know if i need to See it.
  6. congrats jerseydave, thats awesome! i'm looking forward to that day myself! i definitely feel the difference, there's no way i could see myself going back to even vegetarian...though i went cold turkey to vegetarian i slowly cut everything out when i transitioned to being vegan. I can't really comment on the whole body building as a vegan/vegetarian, but it is a myth that it's really hard to get a the normal amount of protein you need to be healthy. Also, i got a really great response in my class (besides the normal intentionally stupid comments haha), and had a great conversation with someone who wanted advice about that kind of diet which prompted me to talk to everyone on here about it.
  7. I gave a persuasive speech the other day on why people should consider going vegan (no animal products in your diet) and it got me wondering if there were any other board members who are vegan or vegetarian. I've been vegetarian for 2 years and vegan for about 6 months now. At the beginning it was Food Inc. that got me. I went "cold turkey" after watching it and never looked back. If anyone out there is looking for help or advice on where to start or anything like that feel free to ask!
  8. silverstein in 2008, i remember being so pumped for that show.
  9. got the chance to spin mine today, sounds awesome! now just for that red copy....
  10. thanks for all of the feedback and advice guys, i really appreciate it! unfortunately i think i've decided not to go. i have already seen them several times so i'm not too bummed about it though. wish me luck on my final!
  11. just watched her live performance of "Red" in New York, got me even more pumped to hear this blaring through my speakers!
  12. Its in the late morning, so I'd probably be able to get at least a couple hours, plus the drive back if I have my girlfriend drive. Its Physics II, my grade is hovering around a B-B+, and definitely a pre-req (ie I'm a physics major ). Thought I heard something about Young London, but it was actually a band called Young English that got slammed, its gotta be the name! haha
  13. so thats 4 yes, 3 no...good thing i still have a bit to get some more feedback!
  14. Illinois is the day before and PA the day after, which is a little too far for me haha
  15. also, i'd probably be at the show in detroit. i always like the opportunity to catch a show at the crofoot.
  16. So The Dangerous Summer is playing their last tour in the US for a while. They're my favorite band so I'd love to see them. They're playing in Akron, OH which is about 3 hours from where I'm at. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but the next day I have my Physics Final which I'm pretty freaked out about seeing as it's probably going to make or break my grade. So I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has some advice for me on whether or not I should go to this. Thanks!
