  1. Took my visiting inlaws to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
  2. I'm pretty sure this does not (yet) exist. Most of the songs are available on vinyl through singles: The Magic Position - Part 1 7" The Magic Position - Part 2 7" Tristan 7"
  3. This is a bummer, this was on my "to buy used" list. Chabon usually pumps out good page turners.
  4. what is this? Joy Division - Beginning Of The End
  5. Curriculum Vitae. It's what us academics show off in. Or, a "fancy way for saying detailed resume".
  6. Check out The 101, Eric's band between CFD & Golden City. They have 3 LP's out. All are/will soon be OOP and are imports. There might a couple listed on InterExpensiveShippingPunk.com. Recommended.
  7. seconded. and thanks Virgil.
  8. I am ridiculously jealous. You will be enjoying: -Crestfallen (special reunion-only LP covers /50!) -Christie Front Drive (this does not happen every day, ya know) -Big Timber (big props to my bro) -Planes (always a great show in Denver, 2nd-to-last show?) -Golden City (Eric Richter's new thing, first non NYC show!) and probably a ton of good new local bands that I'm out of touch on. Sincereley, An ex-Boulderite
  9. Best one yet. Great interview I am also hereby offering my editing skills, let me know if you need a CV but Virgil can vouch for me.
  10. He said: "the music is far more important than the variations of colors and pressings. "
  11. Since my wife is a lawyer, I just want to go on record and say that I am not liable for the increase in your credit card balances....
  12. From another board I have learned that Billy from Silverstein is selling off most of his collection. I thought I'd hook someone here up with the details. In particular his Hot Water Music collection: "... i came as close as i could to completing this collection, and that holds a special place in my life, but now it's time to move on from that. i am planning on keeping one copy of each record, because i will always cherish a complete discography. the music is far more important than the variations of colors and pressings. " http://silversteinmusic.com/billy/hwmsale.html But also the others: "here's a super outdated list of my records, pretty much anything is up for grabs if i have multiple copies of it, especially all the test pressings" http://silversteinmusic.com/billy/records.html
  13. If you go to "The Blog" http://www.woot.com/Blog/Default.aspx then you can see all the stuff they've already sold in the woot off. you can also gets stats on how many they sold and how quickly they went. some of the data is pretty interesting if you're a dork.
  14. The whole concept is that they sell "one item a day" with $5 flat shipping (even if it's a plasma TV). The item is usually a gadget or hi-fi electronic but sometimes is also a novelty item. Since they only do an item a day, they sometimes have great deals. Items are posted at midnight and they usually sell out, sometimes in hours, sometimes in minutes. They also have a wine (weekly) and t-shirt site now. so.... every once in a while, they go crazy and have a "woot off" where they just keep listing shit all day.. As one item sells out they put up the next. The orange bar between the flashing lights indicates how much is left iof that item. As the bar disapperas, users will frantically be hitting refresh in the hops that the next item is something cool. During woot offs sometimes they only have, say, 5 of an item in stock so they can go super quick. The holy grail usually happens once per woot off and is called "Random Crap", AKA "Bag of Crap". Wiki "bag of crap" or "woot" and you will soon see what kind of cult status this has among users. They usually list ~1000 of them and they sell out in seconds. It's $1 but you should always order 3 (because of the flat shipping). What's in a bag of crap? Read the blogs for previous ones... mostly stuff they have lying around the warehouse but they always end up sending someone a plasma TV or a Ken Jennings head or something else amazing/weird.
  15. I have seen neither Superbad nor Knocked Up but I would assume that this movie is also an homage to Freaks & Geeks which (I think) is when Apatow and Seth Rogen first hooked up. Definitely check out F&G if you're a fan of both the Wonder Years and the Apatow/Rogen stuff.
  16. Have you guys tried the Live Local maps? At least in my area there's much better resolution and the fact that you can rotate the bird's eye view to be from any of the coordinate directions is super cool.
  17. dunno, how many of you people are into this but there's a Woot off going on at woot.com. If you're not in the know and spend all of your $$$ on records, it's probably a bad idea to check out, just a warning.
  18. Since it was announced today that Lou Reed is collaborating with them for their next album, I thought someone here might want to make an educated offer on any or all of these while they're still not too expensive. 7" All These Things That I've Done 2004 Lizard King Yellow UK, gatefold with poster 12" Somebody Told Me w/ remixes 2004 Island black w/ pink sticker 7" Mr. Brightside 2004 Lizard King red UK, gatefold w/ LE poster They'll go up on Ebay at the end of the week otherwise.
  19. Just got my copy of Marvels of Industry and it looks and plays great. I know that some people were asking about this coming out on vinyl and Recess http://www.recessrecords.com has them up, the first 300 being on color (still available). They also have great prices on lots of other titles (Off with Their Heads, Queers, Toys That Kill, etc.) for those who like the type of bands that play the Fest.
