  1. Another idea is to find a music venue or two in your area and just make yourself go out on occasion and take some chances on bands even if you haven't ever heard of them. They won't all be amazing, but you never know who you're seeing figure shit out in front of your eyes.

The first time I ever saw King Buffalo I was just looking for something to do after a Duke/UNC basketball game in Chapel Hill and listened to a song or two from the bands playing the local clubs that night. They caught my ear the most and five of my friends and I were among the 50 or so people that night and we were all blown the fuck away.

Just went to my local record store in Raleigh and was turned away because I didn't have a time slot.  They told me that they would be open to the "General Public"  around 1:30...  There is nothing stated on their website about needing to reserve a slot, and I haven't known them to do this in the past.  Guess I'll have to find my records elsewhere this year 🤷‍♂️

Edit :   It was posted on their Facebook page 🙄... Wack

I assume that was Schoolkids? We went to Nice Price and the Record Krate so we could do Schoolkids last and eat at Cloos’ but the line is still around the front to the side of the building. Wack indeed! How were time slots even selected?!

  3. I dig all options, but (and maybe this is just me being a newb) on Reddit you can't see what you have and have not seen with the "mark as read" function. At least in Discord you can click the channel to mark it as read. I'll follow the future, but something similar to what we have minus the spam and outages is my preference... not sure that's a possibility though.

  4. Do yourself a favor and check Discogs before buying/swapping/selecting from VMP's site, though on anything that's not brand new. I almost opted for Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca one month in a swap, but while that would eat up $43 in credits/value it's about $25 shipped in new condition on Discogs. Like all records some appreciate in value and others folks try, don't like, and sell. Just my two cents when it comes to selecting anything.

  5. At least if you don't like your record of the  month you can swap it out OR swap for store credits. I'm in my second consecutive full year subscription, but not sure I'll be back. I was a member at the very beginning and it was way less expensive, but the quality wasn't as high as it is now. My biggest beef is that very often the "essentials" or "classics" records I already have OG pressings of. Their retail and member pricing is really high IMO.

    Greetings!

I am on the hunt for a copy of AFX Hangable Auto Bulb EP.2, as shown in the link below.

    https://www.discogs.com/master/4984-AFX-Hangable-Auto-Bulb-EP2

This was the 2 song follow up to the first EP, which I've recently managed to find on Discogs, but apparently no one there or on eBay has this second one for sale.

Here is a link to my Discogs profile for reference.  I live in the US and have a 100% positive feedback rating with 81 purchases and 10 sales.

    Thanks,

I just clicked the link and it looks like there is a single copy available right now from username jessfranco2. It ain't cheap at about $160 out of the UK, but it is available. I was lucky enough to stumble across some Analord EP's pretty cheap at Flat Black and Circular on a trip back to East Lansing one time so there is always hope to find one in the wild I suppose. My occasion was like a decade ago though and shit just gets harder and harder to find.

  7. I struggled at first, but once I figured out a method that worked for me it seems easy at this point.

Not sure an explanation is easy to follow, but I put the ring on the outside of the platter furthest from the speed adapter and then keeping it taut wind it around the side toward the back to the speed adapter and then move my other hand with it slightly loosely on the ring pulling it around to the front and toward the speed adapter and I'm good to go.

I do leave mine off of the turntable when it's not in use so that it doesn't get overstretched.

They have a new model with a speed selection knob I believe.

  8. I've had the Kickstarter funded top model (not certain on specs at this point in time since it's been about ten years) and it has always treated me well. I had a few technical issues early on, but they were super responsive via email and trouble shot me through them eventually sending backup parts that were improved after their initial design. Hit them up if you have issues, but hopefully they're well past that.
