You know what? I'm not. But there are tons of people out there who do. Lots of them on this board. One of them is barely fucking out of high school and he put a shit ton of his own money into getting Tigers Jaw's first album pressed. And I don't think you'll find too many people here who are stoked about VC's two month out pre-orders but because they know those records are actually coming out they'll pick them up. Saying "I love this album so much that I'll put it out... as long as it isn't a risk" is indicative of the lack of real passion that's plaguing music right now. Passion by committee isn't passion. Pledging 19 dollars for an UF record, one I like, and getting stickers and shit for the privilege of helping you not go into debt is bullshit. A sticker isn't an excuse to charge someone more than a product is worth to off set your risk. It's something lots of labels who actually believe in what they're releasing just throw in as a way of saying thanks for supporting what we put out.

NPR gets about 2% of its funding from the government and none of it is direct funding.

No, I mean NPR has a standard that says you can't go on other shows without their permission and even if you have it you can't editorialize. It's designed to keep them from ever coming across at opinion journalism. Dude has been doing it anyway for a long time and it finally bite his ass. And I'm a fan of Juan. Dude wrote a great book about the civil rights movement. He should probably go re-read it.

lulz. today some of the attorneys were discussing that juan fellow who got fired from npr for his remarks about being afraid of 'arabs' on airplanes. one of them asked me if i was afraid if i got on an airplane and saw said 'arabs'. when i answered no, i more or less got called crazy, and they attributed the craziness to me being a different generation. i attribute my crazy to not being a bigot. Juan got fired for breaking NPR's journalistic code of ethics and by proxy his contract.

Which is why the retirement age needs raising. As does ours. Granted poor people die a lot younger than people with means so the good news is we'll be paying out less in social security to older poor folks who will still be required to pay for a retirement large numbers of them will not be able to have. That totally makes more sense than just removing the cap that says we can't tax income over 100k for social security. Wait...

That would be the ideal response.

It's not something I've produced but I'm pretty proud of getting out of the depressed slump I've been in the last few months. Finally not feeling sorry for yourself is awesome.

Towards the end of Mammoth Press we started having the exact same problem with them. They only care about you if you're bringing in tons of revenue but you can't bring in tons of revenue if they're constantly fucking up the ads. This adds an exciting element of social Darwinism to advertising on the site. I'm cool with it.
