1. Do you have a link to boxer (yellow) on amazon? I can only find the standard black
2. Yeah, for some reason I passed when the purple import was on the national's webstore for $25. I may order Boxer as well, but I'm waiting to hear back from 4ad. How's the sound quality of the imports? saw thom yorkified's post after.
3. Thanks for the heads up! I'm suprised they have High Violet still, wonder if it's the US pressing. Either way, ordered.
4. Still looking to pick these up, or any info. from anybody who ordered these from 4ad recently. If you're looking to sell or possibly trade a colored copy of boxer and/or high violet (us pressing preffered) shoot me a pm!
5. I don't think it's really a question if it comes down to influence on other bands or genres, MBV wins. but yeah Nirvana is much more popular and well known. So there's that.
6. looking to pick these up, the site says alligator is colored but not for boxer, even though the picture is of the yellow. anybody ordered these off 4ad recently and gotten colored for both?
7. yeah doesn't max disown most of the older material? pre ...is a real boy
8. hopefully menorah/majora gets some treatment too. 10'' please
9. Don't reels just degrade over time too though? Might as well play it.
10. Probably a longshot. PM me if you've got a copy you're willing to let go of. WTB Frontier Ruckus - Orion Songbook
11. Well, I think as long as your tape deck/walkman is in fine working condition your tape should be safe and sound. Be careful if you're using an old thrifty cassette player. I bought a nice looking one that seemed to play fine for a bit, then it would decide to crap out and the spindles would unsynchronize or something leading to unwound, unhappy tapes. If the reel itself bends or folds during something like that, then yeah it'll damage the quality of the sound.
12. dogfish head's punkin ale. gettin seasonal up in here. too bad they're east coast or I'd be drinking it every night.
13. I found Weezer (Blue) on cassette for a dolla, love da warbles. But I really do like cassettes, and a gathered thread would be nice for future releases.
14. Does anybody know if there is a difference between Wu Lyf's "Go Tell Fire to the Mountain" release UK vs. US? Supposedly the UK version is 200g but I am unable to find much information about the US version, if it's standard weight and/or if it includes artwork/poster that the UK version has. Any info helps, thanks!
15. Pretend - great local band. jazz rhythm in parts with crazy time signatures. some light vocals on parts of the album but it doesn't detract anything from the whole. this album needs to be pressed. second album is in the works. cool, humble dudes.
16. pretty sure dude was pointing out how stupid it is that someone said that, not making the statement that it actuallyis private info... GIFSoup apologies to anomynous
17. but it's something that can be found on the internet. oh dang, wait isn't the internet public? so shouldn't they take it off of their website if they don't want it to be known?
18. lp's are full of tracks??? edit: i see what you did there
19. i pooped a little when i saw that building nothing out of something for $50.
20. It's entirely possible that Universal is selling these to SRC at retail cost (which was $45), which would explain the $15 markup. Is it possible that the price of these has been unfairly valued from the point of wholesale? I guess what I'm asking is what do you think the actual manufacturing price is of these before the wholesale markup. For clarification, that's where i'm guessing 200% profit on these, from manufacturing cost, not wholesale cost. I understand there are many costs that go into producing records, but is the price being driven up on these on the label's part due to the speculation of demand for this record? It's not like these are 200g or DMM'ed...
21. What DO you think the profit margin on these is? Anyone with more insight wanna hypothesize? here's a similar example. k records reissued the microphones - the glow pt. 2 a few years back in a 3lp format while the original was a 2lp. the original run was long out of print. the reissue, which is very impressively packaged, retails at $25. http://shop.krecs.com/products/klp190 why is a similarly packaged album being sold at $54.99, over double the price of a similar situation? not to mention this is a whole new run of what was supposed to be a limited RSD release. i'm thinking over 200% profit on these at least. but hey, people are willing to throw exorbitant amounts of money at anything limited right? edit: oh and i'm pretty sure the original price of the 3lp deluxe edition of bleed american was $45. so even if for some reason the manufacturing cost of these is through the roof what would explain the $10 increase other than the fact that they're just squeezing as much money as they can out of this?
