  3. Just realized there was another thread posted on this topic not too long ago. My bad!
  4. Let's say I were to purchase I record over the original selling price due to increased value on the buyers market. Many countries have tolls for items over a certain value and can lead to having to pay a hefty sum to cover toll charges. If the seller writes on the customs declaration while shipping the item as being the original value, let's say 10-20 dollars, and not the amount actually paid, how does that effect the seller/buyer if the item got lost in the post? Does it have anything to say at all in terms of refunds/insurance? Does listing it as a gift allow the buyer to avoid paying tolls? Haven't taken the time to read through Paypal's terms of service so I was wondering if anyone can sum it up in laymans terms. Could be a dumb question, but I mostly buy cheaper items online and most of my records from shops so I haven't hammered out the buyer/seller protection for international orders. Thanks!
  5. Moved to Norway from Minnesota a few years ago. Immersion is definitely the way to go, but hey. Not everyone can move/wants to move to a different country. First year at the University, all my classes were in Norwegian. I knew how it was supposed to sound having lived there when I was 9 but couldn't communicate for shit. I basically wrote down every word I heard that I didn't understand in a book and looked it up in my bible (dictionary) each night. Went pretty quickly after that. Tips: -Move to given country -Get a girlfriend there; speak to her in English, let her answer in the foreign language. Helps placing words you weren't sure of to situations. -Write shit down, look it up -Watch TV with subtitles -Start out with comics, move onto short novels -Learn whole sentences first; It's a lot easier to fake your way through conversations while in the learning process if you know how the phrase is supposed to sound. Then go back, dissect and translate the words, write it out again after having figured out the subject-adjective-verb placement. -Watch foreign films. Just had my first oral exams in Norwegian and passed with flying colors. Definitely suprised myself. Realized I've started dreaming in Norwegian which is apparently a sign that it's sinking in. Good luck Kriss! Japanese is a helluvalot harder to work your way through than germanic languages..
  6. Can't say they're mine frankly =) The lady is a pretty big fan. Read The Killing Joke though. Good shit Picked up Vaya on Ebay for 20 bucks (woot) Slight water damage to the cover, but hey, NM vinyl. Stoked to get a listening copy.
  7. Damn! Nice find. Great deals on good stuff.
  8. Aww man.. bet those were hard to let go. My buddy has that babyblue Danelectro. I was pretty suprised at the sound and playability. Pretty affordable. If I remember correctly, it's pretty damn lightwight, right? What's it made out of? Keep the Tele. Played a few of that version. Great sound, sweet neck.
  9. I'm pretty sure I've played through about four games in my life.. Donkey Kong Country Perfect Dark Zelda- Ocarina of Time Fallout- New Vegas Donkey Kong still wins over anything.
  10. Let's see these weapons of shred. My lovelies: Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin: Fucking ADORE this guitar. Great stock pickups, sounds great unplugged, brilliant action. If you're playing with the idea of going semi-hollow, this is an affordable solution that far from lacking in quality. Fender Stratocaster: My first love. American made, custom color with matching headstock. Switched out the bridge pickup with a Dimarzio Single Coil Humbucker when I used it during my metal days. Don't remember the exact model name, but I asked the dude for the hottest one he had at the shop. This one is apparently hotter than Yngwie Malmsteens signature... definitely goes to 11. SUSTAIN! Past guits that I regret selling: -Ibanez S series -Ibanez 7string double cutaway
  11. Definitely growing on me. Not the same punch-in-the-face kinda release as Cross was. Solid, safe tracks. Purdy lookin' record as well.
  12. I also shop IKEA. Music, books, cds and rabbit food storage: Turntable, 7''s, glitter frame, madrushka:
  13. Finally ordered a few mewithoutYou releases I've been waiting to find at a good price.. Brother, Sister is still available at Burn Toast's website also found Catch For Us The Foxes on sale for $12 on Robotic Empires site. Looks like I got the last copy though.. WOOP
  14. Nice! I had no idea this was available again. Looks like I'll be crossing off quite a few things off my want list this month. 70 orange still up for grabs.
  15. Few years back a couple of friends and I went to see Low play a charity gig in Duluth around the time of the Drums and Guns release. As usual, people were either deeply moved or nodding off.. my friend decided to do both in an elaborate manner. Backstory- So.. dude had fallen through a roof landing headfirst on a concrete floor two weeks prior to concert (don't ask how..) and ended up losing his hearing in his right ear. He was pretty concussed and possibly dealing with vertigo at the time or some shit. As standard, a might big bowl was toked before the show. Not the best combo when your shits ll fucked up and you're about to see one of the slowest bands ever. Show- We were sitting in the back row enjoying the concert. I think the song was Cue The Strings or something rather soft.. you could hear a pin drop. I look over at (we'll call him:) dude, and he's lookin' pretty cross eyed. He staggers to his feat near the climax of the song and tries to express that he needed to get some air. People start looking around and Al Sparhawk from Low shows distraction. I start saying '' Dude, you ok?'', aparently loud enough for everyone to hear. Al stops singing and goes, ''Yeah, dude. Sit down'' Start feeling pretty embarassed for dude at this point. He suddenly falls over some chairs and hits the ground, effectively disrupting the ending song. Long story short, head injury+danks+shoegaze=fall on your face
  16. THIS. Long Way Around The Sea is definitely in my top 5 Low songs.
