  1. Did a quick search for this an didn't find a thread.

Obviously a subjective question given someones particular tastes, but assuming you generally like Third Man Records releases, or at least the marquee artists, does anyone have any insight?

I'm contemplating the premium membership and was curious if anyone here was a member and if they found the price to be justified. It's worth noting that the eBay angle doesn't really apply here, I rarely sell anything.

    Thanks!

  2. Sophia as a zombie was sort of a cheap shock. everybody wants to talk about how Shane is the only one willing to do the hard shit, but man, when Sophia walked out of that barn, slack jawed mighty mouse ear havin' motherfucker just stared at her til rick put a round through her head. rick just proved why hes going to be the leader the group needs right there.

i thought the entire episode was awesome though

Sophia as the zombie, while perhaps predictable, didn't come off as too cheap to me. I thought it was the best conclusion possible to that storyline and sort of justified the length at which that storyline was drawn out.

You're right on about Rick. I was thinking as they were shooting all the walkers that he pretty much just lost his status as group leader, which might be an interesting dynamic next season, but then he blasted that bitch and stays on top.

More episodes like this would be a nice treat.

  3. They really are pushing the "Shane is a brutal asshole thing" pretty hard. It's hard to believe he would have no compassion.

I'm also glad Sophia is dead. Or found. Or whatever. That was a good episode, but what comes next. I figure they gotta leave the farm, or a least that is the show I want to watch.

  4. The 60hz vs 120hz is the refresh rate, essentially the 120 can refresh the picture twice as fast. If you watch sports or things with fast action you may notice a difference. If your not a big TV dude (and it sounds like you are not) it probably won't be that big of an issue either way. That said, the price difference seems small so you may as well. There is no downside.

Personally I'd stick with a name brand over a store brand. Any of the big to mid size ones will work fine. But don't judge by comparing the picture in store, they could have different inputs, cables, etc.

  5. Did a whole bunch of shopping today. At one shop they had two copies of Crack the Skye at slightly different prices and my curiosity got the better if me.

Anyway, turns out it was a copy of CTS on green with red spatter. Now that I've solved the mystery I'd like to trade or sell it. Anything reasonable works for me if you want it.

Side note: WTF is up with this press, supposedly tour only variant but found in stores? My guess is extra stock but there seems to be a run of these lately.

  6. I'm mostly a bourbon drinker, so a helpful employee at my local liquor store introduced me to this:

Did they recommend this based on drinking like a Bourbon? I'll check it out. I've had a bunch, but nothing has ever stuck. At least enough to buy or order scotch instead of whiskey or tequila.

  7. Good call on the eagle rare. At that price you can't go wrong. Buffalo Trace is also a good sipper but Im partial to Jefferson.

To not hijack your scotch thread and turn it into a bourbon thread (though there should be one) anyone have an milder scotch recommendations? The smoky sweet combo is a little much for me.

  8. i hate that they're ruining Andrea's character for me. she was one of my favorites in the comics, and hooking up with creep-o Shane is just...ugh.

She has been my least favorite for the entire show run. I'm mostly bummed that they are bringing her more to the forefront, not sure how that jives with the comic.

Last night was a good example of what bugs me most about the show. Going to the suburbs and exploring is a very cool premise, and they give it about 15 minutes of screen-time. The rest is devoted to a bunch of in-fighting masquerading as complex moral commentary.

But again, I'll be watching next week.

  9. discogs takes a 6% flat fee. easy breezy.

and your listing can stay up free until it sells. ebay will charge you over and over if you keep re-listing an item.

maybe i should have phrased my question differently. basically is it cheaper to sell on discogs or ebay? say for a $100 record on both sites (99 cent auction on ebay with no reserve or BIN), how much would you wind up with in the end from both places. minus paypal fees.

eBay, by their admission, takes between 10% and 12% of a sale. Discogs should be cheaper, but typically takes longer to sell.

  10. The threat to intellectual property owners over the internet is clear. Every year, the US Chamber of Commerce estimates that copyright theft costs our nation about $58 billion in lost output, 373,375 in lost jobs, and $16 billion in lost employee earnings.

I'd love to see some clarification on this. To me it reads that businesses with broken or out-dated business models can't adapt and think if they can just prevent things from moving forward money and jobs will reappear.

If they spent half the time they did figuring out new and innovative monetization strategies as they did fighting for their old models we wouldn't be having this conversation.
