  1. The digital downloads are $4. They also leaked the music for free previously. I don't see the harm in charging $25 taking into considering that it helps to finance Will Swan's label and that Jon Mess himself designed/painted the artwork. Do I personally wish they would have charged $15 for it? Sure. However, I don't see this as the band disrespecting their fans. What is the recommended profit margin for a vinyl release?
  2. Do people think these guys are raking in six figures individually each year? Considering Geoff Rickly made less than what anyone makes at a desk job during Thursday's biggest year, I can't imagine what it's like for most every band that has a few hundred thousand fans. At least that's according to this article from 3 years ago: http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/no_money_mo_problems/
  3. Exactly. It's expensive, but they're not making much money off of this. Even if they profited $20 grand off of this release, that's $20 grand that gets split among the band members. That's $20 grand that goes into financing future releases. That's $20 grand that really, considering the man hours that went into making and putting out those 4 songs, is less money than they would have made working day jobs.
  4. I actually saw him at his headlining tour a few months ago. He was super friendly to me. Great with all the fans at the show too. He did not leave the venue until every fan who wanted one got an autograph and picture. Apparently he makes it a point not to drink prior to performing either, he turned down drink offers. He didn't even party after the show, I ran into him at the pizza place right beside the venue. Really great performance too. This was the 2nd time I had seen him since about 3 years prior at Warped Tour with DGD. On pure vocal ability, regardless of how many singers are considered "better', Jonny is one of the few that has ever really caught my attention, regardless of genre. Stage presence, passion, he's had it in every live video I've seen of the guy whether sober or not. The guy sings as if singing is the only thing he's got. You can't teach that. I never got to see my favorite musician of all time (Bradley Nowell) due to a heroin overdose. I honestly thought Jonny was extremely close to suffering the same fate. But since his fall from grace 2 years ago, Jonny has seemed to have turned it around for himself and hasn't had any major slip ups since. I'll admit, he's done plenty of deplorable things to justify such hostility towards him. I guess I'll consider myself one of the few who hasn't had a bad experience being a fan of the guy. Even DGD who you would think would have the most animosity towards the guy, are still all genuinely friends with the guy.
  5. Good Charlotte's self-titled album was very solid. They had kind of a pop-punk meets Third Eye Blind type of sound on it that made them stand out. Very consistent album from start to finish, good catchy songs, not overproduced or too glossy for its own good. It combined some of the best elements of mid to late 90's mainstream punk and alternative rock.
  6. It makes me wonder if they were remastered at all, or if the same masters just translate better onto vinyl than they would on a cd. I've tried to search online in regards to using cd masters for a vinyl pressing, but i have a hard time finding a good explanation on the matter.
  7. Toast to the Future Kids sounds so full on this. Great first impression thus far.
  8. I'm seeing Jonny Craig live in March. I'm trying to decide which cardboard sleeve to bring with me to see if he would be willing to autograph one of either Isles and Glaciers, DBM1, DBM2, or the Emarosa double LP.
  9. Only one a I need a new repress for is Beer Commercials. I wouldn't mind a heavier weighted version of Menos El Oso.
  10. Even Jonny Craig bought it! @http://twitter.com/jonnycraig4L/status/429355206938091520

  13. He was really cool to me and everyone else at one of his headlining shows a few months ago. He may have some screws loose but he's not "Ronnie Radke" bad. For all 2013, Jonny stayed out of trouble.
  14. Silly me for hoping they'd be putting out Emarosa too.

  16. Still need to listen to Acceptance Speech and Happiness. So far, Death Star and Royal Ocean are my favorites in regards to sound quality. I need a much better setup to get a good sound out of DBM1 and DBM2.
  17. Looking at Rise Records vinyl releases for sale, it's likely that an individual DGD album would run at $15. Only ones that seem to go $20 are either gatefolds or double LP's.
  18. Just got my boxset, listening to every album chronologically from start to finsih. Royal Ocean sounds like a masterpiece on vinyl. A few tears on some of the sleeves for my albums, on the middle of one of the sides. Seems as if someone dropped them by accident when handling them.
  19. That sucks so hard for everyone who bought each 7 inch single. Not for me though, I'm stoked!
  20. I saw Jonny Craig last week in Orlando. He was actually really nice to me. Kyle Lucas and Captain Midnite were very cool dudes too. Jonny didn't leave the venue until he signed autographs and took pictures with everyone who wanted one. The next night in St Pete, him, Kyle Lucas, and the frontman from Secrets were jumped by 6 guys who were friends of Sierra Kusterbeck from VersaEmerge. Allegedly, she was there too. Here are stories about the altercation. http://propertyofzack.com/post/64025942817/jonny-craig-kyle-lucas-claim-to-be-jumped-by-friends http://www.underthegunreview.net/2013/10/14/exclusive-secrets-frontman-details-attack-on-him-jonny-craig-kyle-lucas/
  21. They've surpassed Minus The Bear on my all time list. I have DGD 3rd, just a notch below Incubus and Sublime who will likely never be topped. Pretty exciting day to get DGD's entire catalog of albums in one shot. Hadn't purchased any DGD cd's with hopes that they'd eventually get pressed on vinyl.
  22. It's $8.33 per LP. I'm wondering if they're breaking even selling the boxsets but profiting whenever they sell the albums individually. They'll make more per unit off of the tshirt for sure. Still, 1000 boxsets (6000 lps altogether) at $50 each. They sell those out and Rise racks up $50,000 in pre-sales. Rainbo probably cuts Rise a good deal if Rise gets their vinyl pressed exclusively from them.
  23. Keep in mind these wont be audiophile quality. Kris Crummett told me they weren't remastered for vinyl, they're using the cd masters. He thinks they should still sound solid as long as the pressing plant doesn't screw up.
