  1. Really can't ever go wrong with Helvetica. Also it fits the criteria you want.
  2. Mine was in a skatepark when I was 10 yrs old. We could bring in tapes and they would play it over the PA of the place. One day just skatin' along and then this song comes on and I just stopped and was like "wha? this is awesome" I go find the dude who I knew had put this tape in and asked him about it. It was Bad religion against the grain. The song that stopped me was flat earth society. I still love the song and Bad religion to this day is one of my favorite bands. All this was almost 20 years ago, and I'm glad it happened.
  3. So many good Doc suggestions in this thread. It seems like everyone I wanted to recommend someone else already did. So to add to this great list I'll suggest Catching Out its about train hopping and the subculture of people that are in to it.
  4. Older receivers had phono(read: pre-amp) because a turn table was a common piece of the home stereo. Most modern ones don't anymore because a turn table isn't a common piece of home stereo equipment, that's most commonly why a pre-amp comes in to the picture for folks that aren't building a high end audiophile system.
  5. To help any confusion in the store if you ask for Neil Gaiman's(pronounced gayman) sandman you'll get the right one. Yes read it. Its one of the most Epic and awesome comic series ever. Yes some of the trades are better than others but overall its pretty hard to beat sandman. Only thing that rivals it for me is preacher.
  6. I think they are great, but if it does cost the label extra(depending on how much) make it an add on at check out. Have something like "include download code for this record for an additional $1?" Of course I pulled $1 out of my ass, but assuming that would cover the cost of the download service why not? I'd pay an extra dollar for digital copies of a record I got. If I already had it in digital form I could opt to not receive the code and the label gets to save a buck.
  7. c'mon no sunnO))) yet? we'll be playing that at the house as spooky music for the kiddies trick or treating.
  8. You might like 'The Tim Version'. you can sample some of their stuff on the no idea site.
  9. That's why its good to have choices. Some people prefer a queued system where the data is checked on the input, but being able to view the data is delayed. Some prefer the ability to create data and fix errors on the fly with the risk of occasionally having incorrect data. Even with a system where the data is checked before it is publised like DF for example, errors can and do exist. Nothing is perfect its just matter of method you prefer.
  10. I appreciate the suggestion, that is something that could be done in code. So long as the information exists in the "pressing" page all that information can be displayed in other places. I'll toy around with showing copies how you were talking about.
  11. The solution to that is being put in place right now. It'll basically be that if an album title is "Split" it will automatically append the band names to the front for the very reason that you mention.
  12. you can put the cover colors in the "color" section. I don't think there is anything that specifically says not to. I fixed your ones that were coming out blank, you found a bug. If you have quotes (") in your color field it causes things to break. I'll have to fix that.
  13. very much like a wiki in fact, but what would life be without choices?
  14. Didn't this get debunked as not true since the band had no idea about it?
  15. checkmyvinyl.com has added a pressing information database to the site. Its still very much under active development so feedback to improve the experience is welcomed. Anyone can add and edit content as long as they have an account. As its still fairly new it isn't the be all end all source of information, yet. But during our early testing phases we've gotten some content added. Our current numbers are as follows: artists: 2024 , Albums: 174, Individual Pressings: 310, Labels 1191. Helps us grow it, and if you don't like something let us know so we can make it the best possible. Also if you already use the site for your record list you can add items right from the pressing info page to your record list, great time saver. http://www.checkmyvinyl.com/pressingdb
  16. I like the idea, I look forward to seeing more. A few suggestions though as far as production. Lighting and audio go a long way. Obviously you aren't trying to make a pro-show at this point but with little effort and little to no money you can improve the quality of the production. One example I saw right off the bat. You were sitting in front of a tv/monitor. Notice you guys looked really dark but the screen was bright behind you? If you were going to do that again you would want to have brighter lights in front of you so the backlighting of the Tv doesn't darken the subjects(you). This isn't a criticism as much as just kind of brainstorming, personally what I watched and your description doesn't really feel like a vlog to me. It feels more like an actual web show. If your goals are to keep it going and improve upon it perhaps having vlog in the name may prove to be limiting in the future. definitely keep it up though, you'll find your shows noticably improving from episode to episode. Also make sure you watch them yourselves for a while after the editing process. Look out for what works, what feels awkward or forced. It'll help you to find your rythms on camera resulting in a more polished show.
  17. I'm just purely curious. over time I've seen/heard a lot of people make comments about victory records. I've been fairly out of touch with them since they stopped being a hardcore label and got in to more.. fashiony bands. Share your stories.
  18. I'm a big podcast fan. Used to produce one, about to produce another. Ones I subscribe to re Twit(this week in tech) Mac break weekly, You look nice today(hilarious odd style comedy), The instance, Vinyl collective podcast, Fat wreck podcast but they haven't had a new episode since last december. There is nothing new about the format, its just a recorded show that you can watch/listen to whenever you want. The thing that makes it different and more appealing/user friendly is the subscription model of it. No more checking for new content, when there are new episodes they come to you.
  19. damn I had no idea Vhiessu was going for that much. I bought it brand new over the summer from VC
