It seems like a lot of people drop A LOT of cash on records here. I want to know what other circumstances or costs make you cut back/take a break from buying vinyl, even if it isn't especially effecting you right now. My girlfriend's birthday is May 5th and prom is less than two weeks after that (I don't want to go but it's important to her so it's worth it), so I'm taking a break from buying vinyl for about a month to make sure I can afford all these things. It's kind of a bummer. I really REALLY hope that neither The Alchemy Index nor They Make Beer Commercials like this come out within this time frame .

I did some searching but I didn't find anything... Was Forget What You Know ever pressed?

Where does a band go to press a vinyl?

New to VC: Wilco,The Black Keys, R.E.M.,Foals,No A

I love the songs that Foals has on myspace. Probably gonna pick this up. Bloc Party meets Minus The Bear could not have been more fitting. -
I like your old furniture better haha.

I bought Silversun Pickups and MTB's Interperetaciones on Root Bear Float yesterday.

I ended up just turning the sleeves sideways so that the records can slide right out of the sleeve and plastic. They're resealable though, so nothing's gonna fall out.
-
I guess if I left the paper sleeves on them they would be fine. I hadn't thought of that...
-
Any real advice?
-
But they're using protection!
-
I recently read on this forum that some members store their records outside of the packaging but within the plastic sleeve for easy access and protection of the jacket. For double LP's is it ok to do so with the two records against one another?

I saw Thrice on that tour and they were phenomenal. Most fun I've ever had at a show.

Does anyone here have a spending limit?

My question exactly! Everyone here appears to be loaded. -
At no point in time have I ever been waiting for more than 2 records at a time.

Yeah. List price. I don't even buy 7" records as I find that they are vastly overpriced for their content. I do really, REALLY want that Anberlin 7" that came with CD pre-orders at Interpunk though. Whatever. -
For the first time ever, I hope this gets delayed. I'm a little cash-lite and prom is coming up. Tickets are expensive... I don't even want to go but my girlfriend is excited about it. I don't want to miss out! Thrice is my favorite band!

Why is 10" preferred over 12"?

As Cities Burn - on VINYL - moving forward

I agree with you, although I think they stood out to me from the beginning. More influence on alternative and less on metal did them a lot of good in my opinion. It was useless of me to nitpick. I like both albums a lot. Now that I'm listening to Son again I'm glad I'm not the person who made the decision of which album to press. I'm also curious, as I've thought about this much myself, do you ever hesitate to buy an album because you absolutely cannot stand the first song? I never bought the Mars Volta's Amputechture because I'd rather just listen to an MP3 of lesser quality than have to sit through track 1 and a couple other drawn out, ambient tracks. -

Yeah, I'm just not as much into screaming as I am into the more alternative sound that they brought with the angsty clean vocals and yells. Regardless, this thread has me listening to Son again and I like it a lot no question. I would definitely buy a copy! -

I would buy it no doubt but I'd really prefer Come Now, Sleep. I like the sound a lot more on the second record. Edit: Ah shit. I'm not going to complain. Any ACB would be awesome. The Widow is such a beautiful song too. -
VC Cooperative Label Board Members announced

So when will we get news about the first release(s)? -
Pretty!

Thanks for all the answers. No my table does not have a 78 setting. I'm wondering because I got my hands on one of those half CD half vinyl Mars Volta discs and I want to listen to it without destroying it.
