  1. This is hilarious! The shredded paper is perfect as they will dig through it looking for .... something. Maybe pack a brick in the center. Packed with popcorn or shredding like you didn't want it to become damaged in transit.
  2. Back to High Fidelity. I love that movie. I tried to read the book, but found the non-translated british writing/humor to be lacking. Don't get me wrong, I read plenty. Maybe I ruined the book by seeing the movie first. Yeah, we'll go with that. Please don't flame me.
  3. I'm familiar with Chixdiggit. I have Born on the 1st of July and I saw them open for Me First & TGGs. Great live. Even my wife reminded me to pick them up because she enjoyed them so much.
  4. Greetings, Just the other day, I received a large box from VC!!! This is My Fist - A History of Rats (purple) Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Jackknife (green) Reflector - Where has the Melody Gone Hex Machine - Run to Earth (yellow) Fear Before the March of Flames - Always Open Mouth (red/yellow) Drag the River - You Can't Live (brown) Chixdiggit - From Scene Chixdiggit - Pink Razors Chinese Telephones (black 1st press) Hot Water Music - Finding the Rhythms (dark purple w/7") Limbeck - Limbeck (gold) Possibilities and Maybes - Casket Lottery Portugal the Man - Church Mouth (all 4 colors) Minus the Bear - Interpretationes del oso (all 3 colors) A bunch of these bands I had never heard before. Bought them based on alot of the posts on this board. So far, the results are amazing. Drag the River was a big surprise. I expected some young hardcore band (esp. with that name) and was hit with a curve when that vinyl hit my turntable. Reflector is great also. (listening now) I haven't even gotten to Portugal the Man or Minus the Bear yet!!! This is turning out to be a great score.
  5. Dude, you should have someone draw a picture of her, but in a wierd context, like as Yoda or Don King! Kellyjanice, love the avatar.
  6. I did a quick google search expecting to send you several links for this on vinyl, but I came up short. The copies I did find were outrageous. I had no idea this was going for big money. I passed up many copies in the day, figuring it's not going anywhere. (Boy, was I wrong!) Hindsight is 20/20!
  7. OK, it's hard to follow the last reply. I just picked up a few items I was missing. The store was just giving away cds and posters etc... Arcade Fire - Neon Bible Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime II The B-52s - Funplex
  8. Greetings, I received the above LP (The Always Open Mouth) on (1 red/1 yellow) from VC. It is still sealed. I would feel better trading this to another board member than having to send it back as I want the red/yellow inside outside press. I figure first we will see who is interested and then what they have to trade. I'm pretty open as long as it's a 12" format.
  9. Flight of the Conchords are BRILLIANT!!!! Their show/DVDs are hilarious. I would love to see them live.
  10. Yes, that is a good one. Don't forget the Re/Search series. #14 and #15 http://www.researchpubs.com/Blog/?page_id=13&category=8 2 big volumes of peoples vinyl collection with great photos. Includes Jello Biafra and plenty of odd musicians and collectors. Then, for the serious junkies... (I sheepishly raise my hand) Collecting: An Unruly Passion http://www.amazon.com/Collecting-Unruly-Passion-Psychological-Perspectives/dp/0156002531 Tackles the topic of collecting throughout history with many interesting examples and tries to pin down the actual psychological cause. Such as comparing collecting versus accumulating.
  11. The new Coheed is one of my favorites of the past year.
  12. Speaking of Rollins, I ran into him on the streets of Chicago before a show and got him to sign my denim jacket. He wrote "Odd place for a name like Old Man Rollins" This was 22 years ago when he was like mid 20's! (old man?)
  13. Cerebus, my friend. Cerebus. The design was created by Dave Sim upon completion of the first 150 issues of Cerebus and titled it The First Half. I took some liberties with the design as Mr. Sim is Canadian. (and I hail from Chicago) He completed the Cerebus series in 2004 after 27 years. The longest continuous narrative in human history. Something like 10,000 pages.
  14. I very much appreciate all this help. I have 1,000s of albums and feel like a n00b. I guess I'll never know everything, but it won't stop me from trying.
  15. By my count, that's $600 for records! Or $1200 if you are really sneaky...
  16. Thanks. So I guess I am just going to have to take the plunge and order their next album.
  17. Just yesterday, I received a large box from VC!!!
