  1. I recently picked up Against Me - RAR (due to the overwhelming number of posts on this board.) I was previously unfamiliar with them. I did notice that the style of the songs were different from side 1 to side 2. So, my question is, do the subsequent albums by AM, more closely resemble the style of side 1 or side 2 or neither?
  2. I picked up a third state Beatles "butcher cover" that was hidden in the back of a shop in Chicago for $45.
  3. How do you think there came to be over 300 million silly Americans anyways...
  4. No, the thicker does not matter. You are mostly protecting the covers from fingerprints and the grinding effects of dust and dirt that will soil your covers. 3 mil is plenty. That said, I do buy (I believe 12 mil) sleeves for my most expensive LPs. These are so thick they stand up on their own with no record in them. Not that anyone's going to remember this, but they are similar to the ones the library used, back in the day when all the libraries had LPs.
  5. So much repetition.... I'm letting the dust settle a little before I head back in there.
  6. I'm with Goodcore. Maybe if we just ignore them, they will just go away...
  7. This is turning out WAAAAAY better than I hoped. I must go dig up some ridiculous photos. (where's my tu-tu?)
  8. Several packages yesterday... NOFX and SWA from Dr Strange... ISIS - Mosquito Control (blue) (ebay) A bunch of NIN from Aural Exploits... Capitol G 9" Survivalism 9" Only 12" remixes and the Soundtrack to Juno Trying to support new music on vinyl.
  9. Ok, maybe my Beatles - "butcher cover" still in the shrinkwrap with the $1.98 price tag on it.
  10. I want to visit each of you, so that I can go on buying sprees in each area/country. One can hope...
  11. My wallet has this achy empty pain that will probably take quite a while to fix. But, on the other hand, I have dozens of releases coming in the mail... Yeah!
  12. There, I've done it. I've read through all the past posts on this Vinyl Message Board. All 216 pages. It took a couple weeks at up to 12 hours a day. So many bands I now know of. Sooo many new vinyl orders.. I followed all the links to new distros and band sites. Looked up many bands and heard much new music. It was very interesting also to see the evolution of this board, from the appointing of moderators and creation of the registration requirement. Also interesting to see Virgil's posts of the monthly contests and the growth of VC. Now I have some perspective and feel more of a team player. Bring on the future! Viva VC!
  13. I do. But I am also collecting so many other labels/bands that I haven't finished. SST/Brain/RCA Victor/Vertigo etc... I used to live in Chicago and go to the Wax Trax! store all the time until they closed it in like '93 or so.
  14. Yes, you can see how leaving that Story of Star Wars in the shrinkwrap for 31 years has warped the heck out of it...NOT. Why does this urban legend exist? If you want to listen to it, look for another used/open copy and keep the sealed one pristine. It will fetch far more when selling it to collector types. As they say, "New in box" etc... Many sealed mono Beatles LPs go for a minimum of $750. (Thats sealed for over 40 years and magically aren't warped!!!) No shrinkwrap, but in mint condition, maybe $75. They started shrink-wrapping LPs in 1956. A quick search on eBay for Beatles shrink or Elvis shrink will show a myriad of these items. NONE of which are in any way warped or damaged from the shrink, even though the shrinkwrap has been left on for decades. The shrink is there to protect the cover (and contents) of the album. Having been seriously collecting for over 25 years, (with hundred and hundreds of albums still in their shrinkwrap), I just want to bring everyone up to speed.
  15. Bump. Especially with all the new people we have here. Not all these band names and titles are obvious/self explanatory.
  16. Greetings, Since this really is a very friendly group that has much in common, wouldn't it be nice to actually see who we are talking to on a daily basis? Ok, I'll start... (I'm on the left.)
  17. If we are only keeping one album to listen to then I am choosing... Tool - Aenima
  18. They want you to leave your family and friends behind and go fight a war and they send you a record called "Cry Myself to Sleep"!?!?!?!?!?!!
  19. Big Black - Bulldozer (only 200 copies pressed in a acid-etched steel sleeve as promo only) Weighs like 8 lbs.
