  1. Cool concept, and from what I've seen, an interesting read, but $10 for a tiny little pocketbook?
  2. Transnational Speedway.. was my gateway to Clutch. Soon after. I saw them open for Bad Religion. I would love to have that on vinyl. Calling out to the Collective...
  3. There were 1500 copies of NIN - Downward Spiral pressed. They seemed to be cheap $10-$15 up here in the NW. I always thought I should have bought each copy I found. I would have had at least 25-30. Not quite cornering the market, but it would have looked good on my shelf.
  4. Bought a few strips of wooden corner molding and just screwed them to the wall. (The molding, not the LPs. ) (I also have those single LP glass frames running down the hallway)
  5. Over 8,000 LPs Closer to 10,000 if you count 7" and cds, tapes etc...
  6. Oh, so many to list. One off the top of my head is NIN - Broken with the bonus 7" brand new for $10.
  7. Ok, I bought the Fightstar disc. (I thought it would be cool to have the first one, as I also have the first ever LP pressed) Autographed and paid more for shipping than the disc. But it sounds terrible doesn't even start to describe it. No fidelity. Sounds like Fred Flintstone playing a stone record with that crazy bird's beak.
  8. I've seen the Bible on LP at a thrift store. Yellow vinyl! I forget how many LPs, like 60 and it may have just been the new testament. I came in white binders similar to the ones they would use for multiple 78 sets. Charlton Heston has several LPs reading passages from the Bible. As for that David Bowie/Peter the Wolf LP on green vinyl, I have it, but I can't imagine it being hard to find as I've seen dozens of copies over the years.
  9. Can you import into Google docs? Or Record Nerd? or any other online database listing for albums...? Retyping a HUGE list is not high on my list.
  10. A new needle will normally come with a replacement chart depending on hours of usage. I was SOOO anal years ago that I kept a spreadsheet of each side of an LP that I played. Yes, artist and title. And the darn needle broke right before I was going to replace it anyways!
  11. I've spent over $500 several times on a single LP with my top purchase of $1,100 on a rare Beatles LP. (stereo ad-back)
  12. There other vinyl releases like Meteora and Reanimated and that Jay-Z combo can be found pretty easily on eBay but most command a high dollar. (not suprised)
  13. I always email a seller, after sending payment, to please pack carefully and remove the vinyl from the outer cover as to avoid seam splits during shipping. And sometimes they even listen.
  14. Definitions of disc on the Web: * phonograph record: sound recording consisting of a disk with a continuous groove; used to reproduce music by rotating while a phonograph needle ... * disk: a flat circular plate * magnetic disk: (computer science) a memory device consisting of a flat disk covered with a magnetic coating on which information is stored Definitions of disk on the Web: * something with a round shape like a flat circular plate * phonograph record: sound recording consisting of a disk with a continuous groove; used to reproduce music by rotating while a phonograph needle tracks in the groove * magnetic disk: (computer science) a memory device consisting of a flat disk covered with a magnetic coating on which information is stored * harrow: draw a harrow over (land)
  15. My white whale for years and years was the first press of Walk Among Us with the pink cover and the inserts. After like 22 years of looking, I just recently picked up a great copy on eBay with a copy of the 2nd press violet lp thrown in for good measure.
  16. I heard that Billy Joel's first cd (offhand, I believe "The Stranger" was issued in an LP jacket so that it would fit in the record displays that the stores had. No one was set up for the smaller cd packaging. Which is also why they had long-boxes for such a long time to fit into the LP shelves and still be seen.
  17. I have this press with the inserts, but I recently saw a photo of the bootleg (thanks Keevhren) and I like the cover without the red overtones. More spacey. Wouldn't mind picking up a copy at a "reasonable" price.
  18. Man, that Coliseum looks insane. I don't even know them and now I must check that out. Very cool
  19. It is always in your best interest to keep the mailman and the cook on your good side. Whatever it takes. Those two can make or break you.
  20. I work for the post office (not a carrier) and I get boxes of records almost every single day. I make sure to tip them well. Seriously. I've given my carrier(s) Starbucks cards, Gift certs for See's Chocolate etc... I feel bad for the amount of weight I make them carry on some days... ALWAYS keep the mailman and the cook happy.
  21. I also appreciate when they add the crackles to a cd press.
  22. Wesley Willis checking out Me First & The Gimme Gimmes
