Black Friday is just around the corner y'all! I'm keeping it purposely vague so I don't get in trouble for spilling the beans before the company announces anything, but expect something good (and very similar to last year) from us this time around.

40% off clearance is back. It looks like you have to get them to scan your UO member QR code or it's only 30% off.
Correct! Go get those shitty sale records, y'all. Haha
(Just kidding, I know some stores have that post-humous Amy Winehouse comp record and a few decent hip hop LPs among other things)

I will say it's weird that they started listing the pressing numbers after years of not doing so. Like, why now, UO? It's not like their vinyl sales are doing that poorly. Or at least not that I'm aware, since they haven't mentioned anything in our weekly updates that we get.

Hearing about stuff like that is why I always like to make the joke that our I.T. people were probably fashion majors.

I'm in Savannah on vacation, and I finally got to go to Graveface after years of wanting to go but being too far away. I didn't get any actual Graveface releases, but their used bins out front proved to be very fun to dig through. I also got a Graveface tee, and a patch and pin from a local designer.
Waifle - The Music Stops, The Man Dies (early hardcore, looks like a homemade or bootleg pressing)
The Parachute Club - S/T (legit Italo disco)
Beverly Hills Cop OST
The Communards - Communards
Jean-Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean
Mister Lies - Shadow
So then while we're driving down the street, I see another record store called Rody's that I didn't even see on Google, so I jumped out of the car and walked in. Lemme tell ya, if y'all are ever in Savannah, Rody's is definitely worth finding. They had a great mix of different styles, and a ton of old RSD stuff.
Battles - Mirrored (repress, got it for $12!)
Battles - Gloss Drop (repress, $14!)
Boston - S/T

I'm so glad I checked this before I left for work. Baths' music has had a huge impact on me as a person, and I'm psyched that he's got new stuff coming up.
I also really like the cover, it's really fitting with the subject matter of the album, at least from what I read about it on the pre-order page.

Y'all seen this yet? If it's as expensive as it looks, then I have a feeling not many of us will end up with one. lol

Honestly this is a bit of a long shot, but if anyone has a copy of Chairlift's album Something (or Moth, but Something takes priority) that they're looking to get rid of, I wouldn't mind seeing if we could work out a trade since I'm not exactly made of enough money to straight-up buy a copy at what it's going for at the moment.
If you just read this and were like "yeah, I could help this guy out. I don't listen to my copy a lot and he seems cool and also has good feedback," then 1) thanks for the compliment, and 2) take a look at my list and lemme know if you're interested!

I dusted and reorganized the collection and it looks pretty good imo, plus I haven't posted a photo of my set-up since I moved into this apartment two years ago, so consider this post a placeholder for pics to come.
Since this busted ass site doesn't let us post photos straight from our devices. Like literally any other forum site in this, the year of our Lord 2017
EDIT: Alright, finally got some pictures.
The Before: Dust, an extra set of speakers (of the Bluetooth variety), more dust, and DVDs mixed in even though I still had stuff to sort into the cubes, most of which were almost too full.
The After: significantly less dust, space for growth, extra speakers moved onto the desk where we keep our modem and router, and DVDs put into some boxes and cast to the side since we rarely watch them. Not an ideal place for the DVD player, but I haven't figured out anything better for the time being.
...and an overall shot, including the actual turntable, receiver, and a cassette deck that I've yet to hook up and test. Not the most glamorous space, but I'm not made of money yet. The box underneath the turntable is full of my roommate's records.

God, I really like this album but I don't know if I can justify dropping $40 on this if there'll ever be a standard release, provided it would end up being cheaper. I might just pass on this and regret it later if a wide release doesn't happen.
Also y'all just gotta
shut the fuck upset your differences aside and let people buy their damn records, lol. -
Jesus, we never had a chance on that /100 variant. DGD fans are vicious like that, I guess.
Then again, I remember how quickly I jumped on the Box Set because it sold out really fast too, so...
...aaaand order placed. I hate having to pay over $10 for a 7", but it's better than having to pay Discogs prices.

Went record shopping in Atlanta yesterday. Criminal still has a shit-ton of records under $10, and I found a bunch of interesting stuff at Wax 'n Facts, so I ended up coming home with nine records for less than $70. Not bad in my opinion.
Communions - Communions EP (didn't open to check color)
Tairiq & Garfield - Childhood Swing EP (black /1000)
Alma Construct - Alma Construct EP
Tig Notaro - Boyish Girl Interrupted
Dinner - Three EPs, 2012-2014
Earth, Wind & Fire - All 'N All
The Ventures - Golden Greats By The Ventures
Annuals - Such Fun
V/A - The Official Soundtrack of the XXIIIrd Olympiad: Los Angeles 1984 -
Mhm! Caroline plays in the store all the damn time, so I'd be shocked if we didn't start carrying it if/once they press it.

Zoinks, looks like I caught a bit of flack a while back.
It makes a lot more sense now that it's been explained, I will say.

I should get better about reading up on the upcoming exclusives, lol. We see them in our weekly updates like a month before we get them.
-
Each store gets a certain amount of copies, and typically, once they're gone, they're gone. I know my store only got two or three copies on purple, and now we have black vinyl in stock. Your best bet is to go to a higher-volume store in person to check out the selection, or to call in advance and ask for them to put whatever you want on hold if they have it.
But yeah, the UO Solange sold out pretty quickly, as far as I know. All of the Atlanta-area stores sold theirs real fast.

I was able to score tons of good crap (Get Up Kids, Mineral, The Violent Femmes, Ryan Adams, etc.) with the 40% off clearance sale, all for $6 each. Remember, if it "looks out of place" on the shelf (old, missing shrink, even if it isn't in their "clearance bin") or ends in the number 9, it is on clearance, whether the store has marked it as such or not.
I'm actually not so sure about albums that are missing the shrink. I haven't been told to charge markdown prices for any of those, mostly because a lot of the albums that don't have shrink on them are direct returns and they were previously open. I'll ask when I get to work tomorrow just to make sure, since the 40% off sale ends tomorrow evening.

I think it's worth mentioning that the sale also includes all home and tech stuff, so that's nice for all y'all cassette buyers too.

Oh man, I'm super excited for this album. Apparently I must be one of the few on this thread that actually really liked the first single, since I listen to a lot of house/disco/future funk and that's the vibe it gives me. Will immediately order the vinyl once it becomes available.
-
I already have all three of these, but it'll be nice to get a copy of Chunk of Change that actually has the outer sleeve. lmao
Here's hoping for good news soon!

Last year was buy one get one 50% off apparel. Black Friday BOGO 50% seems to be a trend for us.
