gristlejaw
Looking to get the best photos of vinyl (each record/cover/insert taken individually). What lighting & Tips do you have? I seem to always get glare/reflecftions from overhead lights and/or flash from my camera. If i don't use a flash the pic is too dark. Any pointers? heavyheavylowlow
Tripod, larger aperture, longer shutter speed
sherlock
Tripod, larger aperture, longer shutter speed that way you don't need flash.

mrc
if you do have to use a flash, take the photo at a slight angle and that should help eliminate the glare. best bet is trial and error with lighting and speed, aperture.
heavyheavylowlow
If you use a polarising lens filter then you won't get any reflection at all

gristlejaw
Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna try it out this weekend. I'm also gonna make a backdrop out of white foamboard so i have a neutral background. and FYI (the 10 or so people that may remember) My old website The Gainesville Band Page (which had web sites for Radon, the HWM discography "Drunken Third" and others) will be coming back to life. Hence the topic of this post, because i take pretty shitty pictures (and i hate scanning). Its gonna feature detailed discographies with pics of the vinyl (as it always has). So if you have some cool gainesville vinyl (especially you crazy AM! nerds out there), rare flyers, photos, video!!!, or live audio get in touch to help contribute. thanks for the guy who liked my avatar... I also have something similar to this as a 1/4 sleeve on my arm. www.gainesvillebandpage.com
