A stellar album (3rd) from the wonderful indie pop group Lower Dens (Jana Hunter) - Escape from Evil finds them jamming more and more....may be their best record yet!!! Highly recommended...

Limited to only 500 on colored vinyl. Their last LP was only limited to 100 Gold so there are a few more to go around on this release....Dont Sleep!

Pre-order the album, Escape from Evil, and receive an instant download of “To Die in L.A.

Ribbon Music is pleased to announce the return of Baltimore’s Lower Dens with their third album, Escape from Evil.

On Escape From Evil, Lower Dens’ Jana Hunter emerges: cerebral and hot-blooded, rash and incorruptible, and, crucially, possessing of a loud, clear voice. The album sees Hunter stepping up and taking center stage, and emboldening every aspect of the band.

Escape From Evil is a cinematic, tonally rich work. The sounds are clean and warm. The pulse of the album is strong. Melodies are potent and songs are physical. Lyrics are direct, frank confrontations with life’s common crises. The album title is brazen, and along with the grimly funny title of lead single, “To Die in L.A.”, almost theatrical.

Lower Dens’ 2010 debut, Twin-Hand Movement, was a stunning evolution of guitar brilliance and murky emotiveness, while its 2012 follow-up, Nootropics, was a stark, textured paean to experimental bands of the krautrock era. Escape From Evil marks a bold, monumental step forward for the band and the welcome manifestation of a singer we’ve never quite seen until now.

Do you mean the gold variant of Nootropics? I thought it was limited to 350, not 100.

Still super limited...

That info may be wrong? Anyone can add info, back when I ordered it the website said 100! But who knows ya know! 100 or 350 still limited like you said

Yeah, https://archive.org/web/   &    https://archive.today/    are both amazing resources.

I add a ton a of releases to Discogs, and like wikipedia sources are everything.

I always archive limited release buy pages so that I can link the archived page in the release notes.

Archive.today is a good source b/c it will archive Facebook pages and the like, whereas archive.org will not.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got this today! Wow and early ...Little underwhelming for a deluxe LP...should of been 180g at least....But sounds amazing and is such a good record

I agree that it seems a little less than what they could have done for a "deluxe" version.  The record itself is a really cool color & the album is good but they're missing a little extra something in the package whether it be gatefold sleeve, poster/artwork, 180g, etc.  Just one of those little extras would have been nice.  Otherwise this should have just been called a limited edition.
