slinch
Bad equipment will sound bad. No amount of fiddling with wires will change that.
kjkenney
Is your turntable grounded properly? If it works though now the best its gonna, yeah might as well leave it. I'm too engulfed im forensic files and m&ms to think anymore about stereos tonight!
Tardcore
List what gear you have unless I missed it somewhere. The phono input issue makes me wonder if your table has an onboard preamp.

kannibal
however, i unplugged the rca cable from phono to dock, and now it sounds very clear From phono to dock?
Tardcore
From phono to dock? I didn't really get that either. My guess is that he meant he unplugged the turntable from the phono input and switched it to another input (dock input?) That makes me think there is another phono preamp in play. allenh
it wasn't, someone mentioned it and i guess i misunderstood something You didn't misunderstand but there was another connection issue by the sounds of things and I probably confused matters suggesting you try it. as has been said Bi means two and your amplifier can bi amp as it is designed to run two sets of speakers, whether they are two completely separate sets of speakers or you are wiring up the A output set as treble and the B output set as Bass your amplifier doesn't care, as far as it's concerned it's wired to four speakers not two. It's not a great way to do it as amplifiers like yours affectively share the stereo amplifier output across the two sets of speaker jacks rather than having 2 separate sets of outputs but it is a cheap way into bi amping provided you observe the speaker impedance info on the back of your amp. Built in phono stage in the turntable as well as an on board one in the amp?
Tardcore
Built in phono stage in the turntable as well as an on board one in the amp? right. he said it sounded bad when plugged into the phono input but sounded "clear" when plugged into "dock". Tardcore
oops forgot that it's Pioneer PL-990 ok then. That has a built in phono preamp that cannot be bypassed. should be fine as long as it's not connected to a phono input.
