vivsavage
I'm starting to piece together a new system and was thinking of these speakers: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8289238&type=product&id=1172277278079 I'm going to get a Marantz 22-- receiver, a nice turntable, and wanted to know if I was doing a disservice to my setup if I bought these speakers. I got some gift certs to Best Buy for Christmas and I obviously won't get the receiver or new turntable there but was considering these speakers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! skumbucket
jeff might get mad; you didn't use the hardware thread.
vivsavage
Probably, but he would get mad if I asked my "speaker" question in the "turntable" thread. Either way, I planned on being scolded.
vinylme
My dad gave me his old speakers and I love them. http://www.classicsansui.net/images/Literature/Speakers/SP2000%202.jpg
kyle
I wouldn't buy those. I'd go with something from B&W or Epos if you want to buy new. Otherwise you can build your own, lots of designs at fullrangedriver.com. Its really easy and a lot cheaper to build your own than buy premade crap. xrecordx
I Use a Dynavox VR-70E tube amplifier with Dali Concept 2 Speakers and I love them ... the pair is around 350 euro. The company is from denmark. So I don´t know if you get them overseas..... choosing a pair of speakers depends also on the amplifer you have...on the sound you want, the music you want to listen etc.... thebunk
I plan on getting a set of Paradigm Monitor Series 9s next month. After that, I will need to get a better amp\receiver.

Sansui made some tough shit back then. They look exactly like this on the outside (the only difference is that they're 3-way): http://www.classicsansui.net/images/Literature/Speakers/AS100.jpg

I've been looking for a nice set of classic bookshelf speakers for my bedroom. I was looking at some used AS100's online the other day almost got them, but I'm always sketched about buying used speakers online. This is what mine looks like on the outside. The wood grate on the front is a little annoying because dust gets caught in it and its a pain to clean but they do sound and look great (or at least thats what I think). ronniethebear
By the looks of that photo, they're roughly the same size. They're kinda heavy too (shit was built way better back then), so I wouldn't advise actually putting them on a shelf unless it's really sturdy. I got my pair for a steal on craigslist ($75).
