thomas
The Ghost in the Shell movie remake (Ghost in the Shell 2.0) was released today. I'm grabbing the 720p blu-ray rip by zx anime. I wish it would have finished before work, but it did not.
jhulud
Remake? How so?
thomas
"Ghost in the Shell 2.0 is a renewal version of the 1995 film produced as part of celebration for the release of The Sky Crawlers in 2008. For the Version 2.0, all the animation were re-produced with latest technologies such as 3D-CGI, and the soundtrack was also renewed. All the voices were re-recorded again. Notably, the voice actor of "Puppet Master" was changed from Iemasa Kayumi to Yoshiko Sakakibara. Some dialogs were changed from the original. Kenji Kawai remixed music with 6.1 Channel Surround and Randy Thom of Skywalker Sound joined as Sound Designer to improve the sound." From anidb.net It is also in HD. jhulud
Huh...didn't even know this was happening...or happened rather. Let me know how it is when you watch it.
thomas
I didn't either. I just saw a release on a Japanese torrent site and looked it up. The Sky Crawlers movie looks pretty good too. It has nothing to do with Ghost in the Shell so it is odd they remade it in celebration of that movie, but hopefully it is cool. I'll be sure to let you all know how it is compared to the original. Also Juan, free leech on my site ends in a few days so I'll get that DVD done for you then.

andrew13
Menclave released eps 9 & 10 of 00 finally. well, 9's been out but it's finally in avi format. 11 and 12 should be up in the next few days i'd imagine. 9 was fucking great. kinda confused though as to whether or not Ali Al-Sanchez and Mr. Bushido are the same person or not. andrew13
ok wikipedia clarified that for me i guess. totally forgot about Mr. Bushido's character from S1.
thomas
I just finished the Ghost the Shell remake. It is the same thing, with updated sound and redrawn visuals and some cgi. The CGI looks dumb, but there is not much of it. The original is better, but this is nice to see in HD, but I'll stick with my original copy. I didn't notice the different dialouge, but it has been like 2 years since I last watched the original so I don't remember what was not there. vinylme
I just started watching Black Blood Brothers and its pretty good.
andrew13
i watched Akira again on new yrs eve instead of going out. so great. i kinda wish they would have made a sequal with the other half the manga. i guess with the movies, they're doing 2 of them, one will be the first movie basically and the second will be the rest of the manga. i'm guessing it'll follow the manga though and not the movie. thomas
Chaos;Head's ending was a huge let down. New season starts next week, so hopefully we'll get some decent shows.
vinylme
Chaos;Head's ending was a huge let down. New season starts next week, so hopefully we'll get some decent shows. Yeah it took a while for it to get interesting then it ended like that. I hope the new season starts out good, but anime series tend to back track a little at the beginning of new seasons so hopefully they keep the ball rolling from the end of the first one. Do you know anything about Black Blood Brothers? Is this a currently running series or did it end after season 1?
thomas
Black Blood Brothers ended after 1 season.
thomas
Anyone check out any shows so far this season? I've grabbed a few but have only watched Akikan!, which is sort of odd.
jhulud
Got the Eva 1.0 fansub from Thomas today. Gonna watch that tonight w/ some beers. Thanks man!!!
thomas
Enjoy man. I'd offer the DVD to other EVA fans too, but accidently deleted the source after I burned it for you.
silentgods
what is eva 1.0?
jhulud
what is eva 1.0? Evangelion 1.0 It's a re-telling of the first 6 episodes of the series in an expanded theatrical format. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evangelion_1.
thomas
I believe it has some new minor scenes too. The DVD-rip subs are easy to come across, not an actual R2J DVD with subs added. I'm sure it'll hit the states sometime this year though.
murakami
i tried to watch the whole eva series in one sitting but failed, only making it to 21 episodes before i just couldnt stand laying about any longer
silentgods
man i liked evangelion. but i never understood the constant re-editing of the story, how many times did they re-tell the last two episodes? like three times or so?
monk0nuggets
I've never seen eva, but I've contemplated picking up the series many times. Someday...
jhulud
Hideaki Anno is notorious for being an extreme perfectionist. He's never happy w/ the outcome of any of the Anime that he's involved with. Which explains why there has been so many re-toolings of Evangelion.
jhulud
Earlier today I watched 'My Neighbor Totoro'...one of my all-time favorite Miyazaki films...not to mention Anime...such a great film. And for some reason underrated.
