HEX RECORDS RELEASES FOR 2009

Recommended Posts

Spring:

Oak and Bone - debut for new Syracuse band... kinda Unsane-ish, a little Cursed, a little 70's rock http://www.myspace.com/oakandbone

Night Owls CDEP/7"- another new Syracuse band. These guys have more of a Hot Snakes/RFTC kind of punchy rock thing going with a bit of post-hardcore added as well. 7" version will be a split with Barbarossa Records Check 'em out at http://www.timetooperate.com/nightowls/index.html

End Of a Year 7" Another in a string of countless singles from this Albany band. Chances are you probably have a record from them. I'm just adding to the pile! Listen here: http://www.myspace.com/endofayear

Helms Alee 7" A new single from this amazing Seattle band. Their full length on Hydrahead last year was one of the best records ever for this ex-Harkonen band. Huge Melvins-ish sounds mixed with the melodic beauty of Unwound. Check it: http://www.myspace.com/helmsalee

Lemuria 7" Buffalo's ultra poppy and sugary pop punk band that recalls a lot more early 90's indie like Superchunk than it does current overproduced 'pop punk' crap. A weird release for my label, but this band rules. http://www.myspace.com/lemuria

Summer

The Helm new full length LP- Another Seattle powerhouse band. Total crusty hardcore awesomeness. This is going to be their second full length after dropping their first one on Indecision/Rome Plow. Listen: http://www.myspace.com/thexhelm

Prize Country new full length LP/CD- Portland area rockers that have a sound that lies somewhere between the crazy over-the-top sounds of Drive Like Jehu, the rhythmic post-hardcore of Quicksand, and maybe a piece of later-era Snapcase somewhere in there. This will be a CD/LP combo. They can be heard here: http://www.myspace.com/prizecountry

And somewhere in there as well I might throw together a comp celebrating ten years of the labels existence, starting in 1999.

Thanks for checking it out people.

To the person who was curious about Night Owls and Prize Country definitely check them both out if you like post-hardcore stuff heavy on on guitars/awesome riffs.

The timetooperate.com site has the entire Night Owls demo for free download, so take a couple minutes to check them out.

Bump for Hex, great freakin dude all around and awesome label.

Night Owls is fantastic, I'm stoked for that. I dug their demo songs once I was finally able to find where they were located on the interwebs.
