monk0nuggets
So, I'm going to get some money tomorrow and I plan on stoking up on vinyl related things that I've been meaning to get for a while now. I was wondering which inner sleeves you would recommend. These: Round Inner Sleeves - http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/detail.asp?cat=2&subcat=11&product_id=slphd2 Square Inner Sleeves - http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/detail.asp?cat=2&subcat=11&product_id=s12w%2Drp These would go inside of the paper sleeves that came with each LP correct? Also, I was reading that Ebook thing that we got for free, and it said to store that actual records outside of the jacket, but inside of the LP storage sleeves. Do you guys do this? Do you think it is worth it to get poly sleeves for 7"s as well? Thanks for any info!
jhulud
As far as the two sleeves, you can go either way. It's personal preference. I know that Darrell (xfedaykinx) likes the round ones from what he has posted before...I prefer the square ones myself...even though I have found that sometimes they tend to not be too snug in the jackets. But either one would replace the paper sleeves the records came in. That's what I have been doing.
seafoamgreen
I store double LPs outside of the sleeve unless the sleeve is double-sleeved gatefold (HWM's Never Ender w/ demos is an example). I also store lots of 7" outside the sleeve if the sleeve isn't large enough to fit an inner sleeve. I just said sleeve a lot.
jhulud
Shirt sleeve. Jacket sleeve. Sweater sleeve. Sleeveless sleeve.
monk0nuggets
hahaha ^^ Thanks guys. Do you guys use resealable sleeves or just regular sleeves with the tops open. I've been using regular sleeves, but I'm guessing that does very little to keep dust out.
jhulud
I use the resealable sleeves. It's not as annoying as people tend to say they are when it comes to taking the records out to listen to...at least that's what I think...

monk0nuggets
So would you recommend these: http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/detail.asp?cat=2&subcat=11&product_id=slps3r or these: http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/detail.asp?cat=2&subcat=11&product_id=spplp1234r
googlemyass
definitely go with these: http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/detail.asp?cat=2&subcat=11&product_id=spplp1234r they arent as loose so the record wont be moving around as much and they are cheaper! monk0nuggets
Thanks! I wish they would cut you a deal if you want 200, damn.
seafoamgreen
I haven't found thick resealable sleeves- only the super thin ones that make crinkly noises whenever you touch them. Anyone use those acid free archival sleeves? I find that they yellow very easily...
jhulud
I use the ones with Prod. Code: SLPS3R. They have enough room for the record and just a slight of space inside left. Again, personal preference.
googlemyass
the record store close to me sells 100 packs for 15$ great deal.
monk0nuggets
So, are the ones I listed the crinkly ones?
jhulud
^^ No. They're not thin at all. You'll be OK with either one.
monk0nuggets
Cool. Thanks again!
j4m35
i might sound like a n00b, but what's the advantage to having a plastic sleeve vs a paper one?
jhulud
With the paper sleeves you run the risk of two things: the acidity of the paper and also scratching the vinyl. The "plastic" ones are really what are also called rice paper which are smoother and acid-free. And there also paper ones that lined with polyethelyne (sp?) which are better than any regular paper ones.
j4m35
so its definitely worth it to go with the plastic sleeves?
jhulud
It's all personal preference. I have been placing my more "collectible" and rare records in the plastic sleeves.

monk0nuggets
I decided to pick them up after I got the Radiohead discbox. They came with the rice paper sleeves, inside of paper sleeves and they are absolutely wonderful.

The rice paper also seems to be falling apart. I wish I could get replacements but I haven't seen black sleeves like that for sale anywhere. xfedaykinx
i use the roundbottom ones because i like to put them inside the paper sleeves. you cant do that with the square ones.
monk0nuggets
I was thinking about that. I would like to keep them in the paper sleeves that they came with, but I didn't know if the rice paper would fit. So it does fit nicely inside the normal paper sleeves?
